From memory I count 65 at Rosedale. I think that's probably the most. A couple of holes there have five pins and several have four. Swope may have Rosie beat but I don't know that course as well. WyCo has 41 to be exact. 40 actual pins but one that can be used twice for #7 or #9.

The placements at WW are a good mixture right now.

#1 - short right
#2 - long deep
#3 - medium center
#4 - long right
#5 - short left
#6 - long - around the corner
#7 - in the middle up on the hill
#8 - middle placement
#9 - left next to the road
#10 - middle placement
#11 - long
#12 - long
#13 - short right
#14 - middle placement
#15 - right short
#16 - long (dangerously near the road)
#17 - short right
#18 - medium - up on the hill right.

That's from memory after playing last night.  My descriptions may or may not be accurate. How's that for a disclaimer?

#1 is a classic tunnel shot with the big trees and all but my favorite is probably #14. It has three really good pin placements. The short one in front of the pond is a rather tough birdie opportunity, the left one way down by the road is a great long downhill shot with all of the big trees to contend with and the one on the other side of the pond (where it is now) is a great risk/reward hole with trouble all around, pond, road, nasty brush below the damn. That hole just has a lot of personality. The two long pins are feel good threes and the short pin is a satisfying birdie. And to top it off, you can use the short pin as an alternate for #15 when teeing from below the damn with a blind shot across the pond. We plan to put and alternate tee pad in there one of these days.

There's lots of good holes out there in my opinion though. Some clunkers too but you have to take the good with the bad on most courses. They can't all be Water Works.

WYCO / course map

I just sent you a copy of the only map I currently have for WyCo via e-mail. I hope that helps. Once I get a more formal map done I will post it on the WyCo course page.

There are three placements. The original dogleg through the gap and to the right plays a bit easier than the position I am about to pull it from. That position is through the gap and to the left up near the road. The third placement down by the creek is newer than those two and actually plays a bit easier than both of them according to the hole-by-hole stats I'm doing. A lot more threes there than on the original dogleg right.

Alexsy Bubis hit it during the Wide Open. Unfortunately for him it was during a rain delay. Fortunately for the crowd it was while a lot of people happened to be standing around so they got to see it.

Rosedale / Stolen #1!!!!!

All 18 holes are there. The stolen basket has been replaced. Not recovered, replaced. The basket was indeed stolen and money was spent to replace it. So, fear not. You'll get a full round in. Thanks for the support.

Great night for league at WyCo to close out July. 10 golfers came out on a warm but not too hot Friday evening. I had a bounty out on #4, stating that as soon as someone took a 3 on that particular location I would move the basket. It had been there for 7 weeks and no 3s had been hit up to last Friday when three people hit it. Carson hit it first followed on another card by Leo and Rick. I haven't moved it yet but look for the position by the creek to be trimmed up and in use this week.

We had the idea during league at WyCo last week that we pay out 25% of the ace fund to anyone that birdies #13, #14 (in long placements only) or #17 during league play and call it a field ace fund. Maybe we could generate some interest that way. So far #13 was birdied once, last year by Rick Molenkamp. He had a decent drive and then put it in from over 200 feet away.

As for Water Works. I saw #1 aced in its long placement so we know it can be done. More opportunities there than WyCo for sure.

Seems to me the only reason WyCo has never had an ace hit during league play is because Beckett's never been out there to play league.

Make that closer to $600 for the ace fund at WyCo now. I have some league money I haven't turned in yet.

Take I-29 south to I-435 South, Topeka. Stay on I-435 until you run into I-35 South. Go South on I-35 to the Santa Fe exit in Olathe. Go west on Santa Fe about three miles until you cross K-7, past a big intersection where the Price Chopper and a MacDonalds is. Go to the next light you come to heading west and turn right. The course will be on your left about three blocks to the north.

Someone else might have more time to look this up on Google maps or something. I'm headed to WyCo for league!! Good luck. Hope you can make it.

We were too late in asking. The paperwork had to be in 30 days in advance. Sorry...

It's still a KDGA Oz tour event in case you are playing the Oz tour for points. Otherwise it's a non-sanctioned tourney at the lovely Prairie Center Park. It'll be a great time no matter what.
