General Banter / Topica?
« on: June 09, 2005, 03:46:40 PM »
You should be able to just reply. I noticed you and Jeff both sending to Topica and the reply coming up completely blank. I think the problem lies elsewhere. I reply to Topica all the time without any problems using a Road Runner account and Mozilla Thunderbird. Perhaps it's the e-mail client you are using. I wish I could be more help to you guys.

No league this Friday. With the Wide Open playing there on Saturday morning and players meeting Friday evening we are canceling it for Friday of this week. You are welcome to come out and play the course with the ropes that the pros will be using though. I expect there will be some others come out and want to play league. Maybe you can get some sort of $ round going in a casual way. I'll see you next week for sure though.

If you found your way around Swope okay you won't have any trouble with Rosedale.

We don't have maps posted on our website yet but the guys at PlayDG.com have some pretty good walk the course pages like this one of Rosedale:

http://www.playdg.com/rosedale/

We link to all of them on the Course pages:

I actually have a map of the layout of WyCo. Let me know if you want a copy. It's Word document and kinda simple but effective.

Beginners / Good starter disc
« on: June 07, 2005, 04:42:46 PM »
Buy her a light, 150 class, mid-range.  There are several beginner discs in light weights available.  Try the Aero http://www.discgolfworld.com/product_detail.asp?product%5Fid=811&mscssid=PVLAVMGEDGM88K8F4UNM97GSSU5A1NB1
or Shark
http://www.discgolfworld.com/product_detail.asp?product%5Fid=556&mscssid=PVLAVMGEDGM88K8F4UNM97GSSU5A1NB1
or even the Classic Roc
http://www.discgolfworld.com/product_detail.asp?product%5Fid=818&mscssid=PVLAVMGEDGM88K8F4UNM97GSSU5A1NB1

The Classic Roc comes in really lightweight plastic. Disc Golf World has lots of this sort of thing and they have retail hours during the day now. Give them a call. I recommend getting one of these and having her stick with one disc until she gets the hang of it. Any of these three will work for her whole game until she is ready to branch out. Have fun and good luck.

"Wedding Advice"

At my granddaughter's wedding, the DJ polled the
guests to see who had been married longest. It
turned out to be my wife and I who had been.

The DJ asked us, "What advice would you give
to the newly-married couple?"

I said, "The three most important words in a marriage
are, 'You're probably right.'"

Everyone then looked at my wife.  She said,
"He's probably right."

General Banter / New Player
« on: June 05, 2005, 12:20:50 PM »
Meet by #1 tee pad at the picnic tables there. As far as what disc(s) to bring that's up to you. I recommend a Roc and a putter for beginners but that is up to the individual. The best way to learn the game is to start with no more than three discs and stick with them until you know how to work them before branching out to other types of discs. New Players league tees off around 6:00 I think, but you should try to get there early. There is currently no cost to play.

WYCO / WyCo League 6/3
« on: June 03, 2005, 11:41:24 PM »
I'm sure most folks thought league would be rained out this evening but not so. Three hardy souls braved the threat of severe storms and got 18 holes in in very little rain. It was raining when we started but stopped after two to three hoels and the evening turned out beautiful. Third time that's happened this season. Starts out nasty ends up nice. Work day on Saturday 6/4.

General Banter / What kind of Bag of do you carry?
« on: June 02, 2005, 11:15:04 AM »
I carry a Lightning Pro-Style bag with Quadshocks. There are only two points to attach the straps on this bag but it works really well. There is room for 20-22 discs as well as a couple of zipper pockets for other things and a bottle holder. It's less expensive than other brands but it has held up pretty well for me. The Quadshocks actually cost more than the bag. The bag comes with an okay single strap but I stuff so much in mine it's easier with the dual straps.

WYCO / WyCo Workday 6/4 - 9:30am
« on: June 01, 2005, 11:02:16 AM »
There will be a workday at WyCo this Saturday morning. I will be in the parking lot by #1 by 9:30 to get things going. Weed eating, trimming of a few trees and more poison ivy spraying are a few of the things planned. Also, we hope to have tee information to afix to the current tee signs. If you have any other projects you would like to do at WyCo just let me know.

WYCO / WyCo League 5/27
« on: May 31, 2005, 10:17:00 AM »
Once again the threat of rain kept the throngs away. However, once again the evening turned out beautiful and those that stayed away made a big mistake. The clouds and threat of rain gave way to blue skies and a gentle breeze. A great evening at WyCo for the six folks that showed up. Three open and three masters:

Open
CD Steiner   54
Cecil Cameron   55
TJ Ring   69
AVG   59.33

Masters
Tom Butler   64
Kevin Montgomery   67
Steve Slinker   71

Thanks for the kind words Christian. I sprayed for poison ivy and did some weed eating this week as well as got rid of a downed tree and cut some poison ivy vines that were taking over a couple of trees.

The course is looking great and is freshly mowed. Tonight is the night to get out and throw a round at WyCo!
