You're welcome Rob, and I appreciate the fresh Maverick attitude you are bringing to the area. Kudos to you!

Not a resident Rob just a concerned disc golfer who lives in the area.

You missed my point completely Rob. It's not about how the Kanza DGC will affect your tournament but how your tournament is going to affect Kanza DGC, the closest course to my house.

It doesn't seem like you gave much thought to my concerns so I'll take them up with the Ottawa Parks Dept, they may take them a little more seriously. I'm sure they are going to love your "not central park" quote.

Yes, I cleared it with the city.  That is always my first step.

Most courses have limited parking that cannot accomodate a full tourney.  Centennial Lawrence, Longview Perry, Blue Valley KCMO for example.  We'll deal with it.

Tee pads are taking care of by utilizing flags and allowing people to tee from grass besides the tee pad or behind tee pad.  Personally, I think the pads are no big deal when you look at the size comparred to the amount of space you have when you are driving from a lye in a fairway (directly behind your disc / marker, 11", etc.)  If it is really bothersome, you can use the marked natural pad.

We will have alternate tee pads.  Short for Junior, Rec, Rec Women, Int. Women and maybe Adv. Grandmaster.  Long for others.  Some of the long tees will be the walking trail.  It is Ottawa, not Central Park.  It isn't that busy.

Players and pedestrians will need to be careful regarding each other as with any tournament.  Both can manage.  It will be OK.

Tournaments I intend to run will not be 'normal' tournaments on normal courses using the same ol', same ol'.  Grow the sport by providing alternate options to the same old thing.  Some will like it, others won't.  Vanilla and chocolate options.

Defiance Beer returns as a sponsor.  Yum.

Thank you.

Terrible course for a tournament, hope you've cleared this with Ottawa Parks. Very limited parking, no tee pads, a walking trail that gets plenty of traffic comes into play on 8 of the 18 holes and the kids playground can be hit with an errant shot on hole 9. Fun Fact: HeWho was the course designer.

Ice Bowl 2013, feel free to use any you would like.

Thanks Scott/Kujo, missed that. Threw out my shoulder at Rosey this afternoon and am using the Rush Limbaugh method of self medicating tonight (painkillers and Vodka Martinis!), doesn't grant me the license to be an ass. Sorry for the attitude in that post Nate and Dick.

Is this going to be just two divisions, or will there be Intermediate and Advanced divisions within the Amateur category?
By the looks of it, there will only be 1 division for ams.

According to the first post in this thread it's just the kids(ams) and us old goats(am masters) on the Am side. And Am side cash payouts would be a great and wonderfully novel concept!!! What's not mentioned is whether it's a PDGA sanctioned event or not, I'm curious about that.

Here's some pics from Saturday if you don't do the facebook.

Pretty sure it was hole 15 Greg, the pond was frozen and we all threw several discs. Day of the Ice bowl prelim, so I'm guessing it's been found by now. I just wanted to alert the community that if you see this disc it's definitely mine, there isn't another one like it.

If we failed to make it back up the hill in time to collect that disc for winning the card is there still a chance to get it?  There was a nice bonfire and whiskey  ;D

Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make this years Ice bowl the best I've attended so far, I really felt a family reunion kind of vibe and loved it!

If you happen to see someone with this disc please offer them a reasonable finders fee and I'll happily reimburse you! Start at $5 and quit at $20!

I'll be the first to get it on public record. I do not approve of this, I can't believe that the club would allow such a major change to the Ice Bowl just ONE week prior to the event. We've never had an issue with underage drinking and a little free beer has always been one of the KC Ice bowl benefits.

Did that too and had a great day. In my not so humble opinion an Ice bowl month is far superior to an Ice bowl weekend, brilliant idea Jack Lowe!!
