Does the players meeting start around 9:00?

Anything special a non-local would need to know about how to get to the course or the course in general?  We're first-timers to Smithville and we'll be leaving Joplin around 4:30 AM so any tips for the road-weary would be appreciated.

It's a holiday for several of us in the Joplin club as well so that's why we've started running an event on Good Friday the last couple of years.

Looking for a Friday C-Tier tune-up before the DUI, Emporia, or Tulsa events?  Head down to Neosho and Joplin for a round at each course on March 29th.  Yeah, our flyer is made in Microsoft Word but it's still 45 holes of disc golf and it'll be good practice for the A-Tier Four States at the end of September.  We plan to use the Neosho course this year for the 4SO along with the 36 hole layout at McClelland.

Thanks for the encouraging words KC guys.

When thinking about moving up to an A-Tier tournament, we have always struggled to answer the questions "Why?" and "What are the benefits?"  Can you guys share your thoughts on this?  In my very limited conversations with only a few people from small clubs who have ran A-Tiers, most say it's not worth the hassle, the extra costs, the change in player expectations, etc.

The 2012 Four States Open presented by Mother's Brewery is up to 82 paid pre-registered players so far over 12 divisions.  Pre-register at

We'll have the temp 9 set up to play next Tuesday night for our singles mini which starts at 5:30.  We'll also have the temp 9 set up for practice on Friday during the Friday Doubles event with $500 added cash.  Flex start time from Noon-6:00 PM.

Again, don't forget about the $10 hotel voucher if you stay in a Joplin hotel.  Just bring us your receipt.

Visit for all the details!

Tracy, where at on the west side of town?  I imagine we won't be getting into town until 9:00 or later and it sounds like heading your direction might add 30+ min to our drive so unfortunately WyCo league is out for us.

Anyone have an empty bed or couch to house two Joplinites this Friday night?  I've got a hiking air mattress so I could even survive on the floor.

Is DGCR still pretty accurate for Cliff Drive in terms of holes and layout?

I've played Cliff once and it was probably 3+ years ago so I just want to know if it's even remotely the same course from back then.

I don't think the tiny town of Carterville, MO could handle Jack Lowe!

I believe all of us in SWMO will agree with that statement.

Come on down if you've never been.  This will be the Four States to be at for sure.  There's always a good turnout for the Masters divisions.

I'm planning on driving up for Joplin for this event but I won't know 100% for sure until late next week.  Would you still rather me pre-register a day or two before the event or just show up the day of?

Ams pay $35, get a disc and a shirt, and the rest of the entry fee goes to the fundraiser, correct?  What kind of disc?  Cotton or dri-fit shirt?  How is the $45 entry fee for Pro's being paid out?

I've only played Cliff once about 3 years ago and I'm excited to come play it again.

If you are staying in a Joplin hotel, don't forget about the $10 JDGC voucher you receive if you bring in your hotel receipt. Hotel options are numerous in Joplin with some of the best disc golf rates provided at Microtel ($47Q/$54QQ), Quality Inn ($69QQ), and Towneplace Suites ($89QQ, sleeps 5). Just mention the Four States Open Disc Golf Tournament to receive these rates.

Visit to find the rest of the lodging options in Joplin that gave our event participants a special rate.

The Players Pack this year for Every AM will consist of Two Discraft Discs, A Metal Mini, A Dri-Fit T-Shirt, and A Sharpie.  That's around a $70 Value for your $25-$45 entry fee, plus our excellent payout at the end!!!

The disc choices are:
D Challenger
D Magnet
D Soft Magnet
X Buzzz
Z Avenger
Z Buzzz
Z Comet
Z Force
Z Nuke OS
Z Surge SS
ESP Avenger SS
ESP Buzzz
ESP Nuke
ESP Surge

Don't forget, Rec Players receive A Bonus CFR Disc and A $10 Voucher in their Trophy-Only division.

We should have our hotel rates sheet by the end of next week so I can update you then.  The PDGA discount hotels are probably the safest bet though.
