Tournaments / Re: 2011 Four States Open - Joplin, MO - Sept 24th & 25th

Final nine is continued stroke play to determine the 4SO winner in MPO only.  Last year Convers started the final nine in the lead, lost it to Russ Burns, but then retook it with a couple holes to play.

That's still the plan but boy we sure don't want to disappoint anyone if they're not.  They should be going in the ground in about 2-3 weeks but as of now, they are still our original baskets.

Of course the tourney is still going to be a lot of fun either way: Great payout, solid players pack, free food, players party, Final 9 for the top 4 Pro's, ect...

Found and Lost / Re: Lost at Blue Valley
« on: June 13, 2011, 02:25:52 PM »
I came across so many tall patches of grass I came straight home and mowed my lawn again for good measure, even though I mowed it the day before!  Hole 5 & 16 weren't deep into the rough at all but we spent at least 20 min searching for each dang disc and couldn't find them.

Found and Lost / Lost at Blue Valley

My buddy and I lost three discs at BV yesterday.

Hole #5 is a maroon CH Destroyer near the tree straight down the fairway where it turns to the left.

Hole #10 is an old red Buzzz to the right off the tee and over the trees.  This was just a lazy toss off the tee so we could leave to go to Swope to watch the finals but we could never find the Buzzz.  This Buzzz is quite important to me.

Hole #16 is a Green Boss thrown forehand but stayed left in the deep rough.

All have names & phone #'s on them.

Here's the most recent update we sent out regarding the tornado aftermath:

Uriah Johnson was working his second day at Home Depot when the tornado completely destroyed that store. He sustained severe injuries from a wall collapsing on him along with multiple other people. After he was able to dig out of the rubble, he was called to the hospital by his other job at the Welch Fire & Rescue to aid in the rescue at St. John's. While there, he collapsed due to the injuries sustained at Home Depot and was taken to a Springfield hospital for brain swelling and internal bleeding. Uriah is now home and is doing much better. He even got in a round of disc golf about 3 days ago.

Pat Wooley, Michael and Isaac Davison, and Zack Jones all lost their houses/apartment buildings along with many of their possessions, including vehicles.

The support all these guys have received from the disc golf community has been amazing. The Disc Golf Monkey, Russ Burns, led the charge by receiving donations from many of his friends and disc golfers across the country and held a raffle at the recent Lake Bella Vista Open tournament to raise money for these five guys. From the first round of giving, a total of almost $1,900 was raised and donated! I say the first round of giving because there are several other clubs & tournaments that will be holding their own donation raffles and raising money for the Joplin tornado victims. If you would like to donate to the Joplin (JDGC) Tornado Fund, you can find a link on our website at www.joplindgc.com.

Thank you for all your support and giving.  I know we've received donations from guys who live in the KC area.  There is still a very large need with some of these disc golfers and obivously our community as a whole.

Last night we received a $200 donation from an individual which directly goes to the disc golf families affected by the tornado.  I've also been told the Disc Golf Monkey has received donations in larger amounts than this.  It's truly amazing to see all the love and support in our community.

If you'd like to donate visit www.joplindgc.com or www.discgolfmonkey.com for more information.

Discglover, thanks for the post.  The Joplin Disc Golf Club has set up a paypal donate button on our website for those that wish to donate directly to the disc golfers affected by the storm.

Of course Red Cross or other charitable donations are greatly appreciated along with the thoughts and prayers everyone provides.

Is it too early to ask what the Am Players Packs will consist of?

I had fun at Tocobaga in St. Pete last year.  It's an interesting course with lots of 3' tall ground plants of some sort that make putting and upshots interesting.  Plus you can see the Gulf and finish up a couple hundred feet from a picnic area on the beach.

I also played Cliff Stephens and it's a good course too.  Duh!

Those are the only two courses I played.
