Barter Town / 4-21 garage and food sale.
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:46:01 PM »
Tonganoxie is having their citywide garage sale this weekend. I will have various items including golf discs for sale on 4-21 ONLY. I have not gone through them to see what I'm selling but there are some good discs. I'm also cooking some burgers and brats, chips and drinks for sale. I'm also going to have my audio system out for background noise.
AND I may even offer a car wash.
PM me if interested in directions.

General Banter / Kelloggs Company Picnic CTP event
« on: March 30, 2012, 11:07:44 AM »
Kelloggs has brought back the company picnic and is being held at E. H. Young Riverfront Park in Parkville,Mo. right next to Argosy Casino. The picnic is July 14th and I am asking the company to allow me to put on a CTP event as one of their attractions. This is a company only event BUT I am asking for club volunteers who are willing to help spread the good news about our sport, the club and the great things we do for the city. I hope to get club members willing to take time to help me. I have asked the club to put up a banner and looking for the club to donate the Wizards we can use for the event. I am planning on having a shorter CTP for the kids. I am getting the use of 2 portable Mach lll. All volunteers will be able to enjoy all the food and festivities offered. In years past we had a Nascar simulator, a jumpy deal for the kids, horse shoes, a miitary helicopter land letting people board and view the insides and take off, Riverside fire trucks and personnel, 2 Men and A Grill Catering, duck pond for kids, bingo, tug-o-war, face painting, pictures with Tony the Tiger and Ernie the Elf and I'm sure there is stuff I left out but I guarantee a good time. We expect upwards of about 500 people to attend but you never know how many will participate in the CTP event. The last time I did this Jack Lowe and several others in the sport came out to help and the response from the attendees went well.
I will need a definate head count at some point as they only allow those with wrist bands to enter the park. That head count can include family members of the volunteers. I will post more info when it becomes available.

General Banter / Joplin relief fund
« on: May 26, 2011, 10:22:28 AM »
I am asking all disc golfers to please donate to the Red Cross for disaster relief.
It kinda irks me when people think they should get something in return for donating money while playing in a tournament that is designed to raise money.
Put yourself in others shoes and realize what those affected truly go through.
My sister's house was hit a few years ago when the F3 tornado touched down by Wyandotte County Lake.
I believe David Underwood's house was hit by the same tornado and he is a casual golfer.
K-Mont has donated his efforts and is there right now.

Rosedale / Sinkholes
« on: March 27, 2011, 10:32:59 AM »
Remember when I originally called the UGW to fill the sink holes?
The UGW had put in a work order to fill those. It was obviously never done.
Its time to take a new approach to getting the safety hazards taken care of.
I have a new contact # and will try my new approach.
I'm hoping to have these filled before the Wide Open.

Modified info.

General Banter / Most ever online per day
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:41:25 AM »
I have watched this # very curiously for quite some time.
I just noticed it changed from June of 2008 to Feb 17th 2011!!
I don't remember the last # (86?) but we were at 175 by 5:51am on that day.
Now I'm even more curious.

General Banter / Direction to go for disc golf?
« on: January 23, 2011, 05:39:03 PM »
http://www.grindtv.com/surf/blog/23806/law-breaking+photographer+saves+the+life+of+mavericks+surfer/
I was looking at this page when I noticed the header for all those different sports. Where should there be a listing for disc golf  or a link to the PDGA site for disc golf beings these are more along the x-games type sport? I would think PDGA would create more of a stir for at least a semblance of mainstream media like Yahoo sports or ESPN to report the sport.
Any comments from the peanut gallery?
When isn't there any comments?

I drove to Sqauw Creek Nature Preserve in Mound City, Mo. on New Years Eve day and spotted around 45 eagles.
One spot there were 7 eagles on the same level of a tree.

General Banter / What do you think?
« on: November 12, 2010, 11:32:08 PM »
Do you need a Color Guard carrying in the U.S. flag before saying the Pledge of Allegiance before each club meeting?

How about someone to sing the National Anthem before every tournament?

Not serious about the color guard.
