Rosedale / Rosey Down Under League 2-14-09
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:55:54 AM »
I just HAVE to take the opportunity to post that Spencer and I beat some of the best pro golfers with a -3 and we had 2 bogeys. We beat Arturo and Leo plus Todd and Peach. We tied with Otto and Suzette and ended up a 3 way tie for 4th and cashed. Spencer we won a total of $7. If you want your half show up to the next Down Under League.

When you don't get much opportunity to say that you beat some of the top pros, you may as well take it and run with it.

Todd created a new nickname for Dan Zinc. He is now called Sully. I think he resembles Sully quite a bit actually. Just put a airlines jacket and captain's hat on him and next thing you know he'll be kissing babies and signing autographs.
He'll be back to crashing planes in no time.

Rosedale / Damage to Down Under's fallen tree bench on 11.
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:44:43 AM »
Someone damaged the backrest and bench on the fallen tree. If I see ANYONE defacing any of the hard work my fellow golfers and I have have put into our courses, they will have to answer to the proper authorities.

General Banter / Who intro'd you to the sport and how long been playing?
« on: February 08, 2009, 10:54:37 PM »
Had some time on my hands and thought I would start this thread. Klunel asked me during Down Under league this question and I thought this would be entertaining. I'll start first.

Everyone can thank Kevin Montgomery for introducing me to the sport. Dick will be the first to slap him, I mean shake his hand!!
I am pretty positive I started in 1990.

Found and Lost / Flying Eye Marker Found
« on: January 27, 2009, 11:47:05 PM »
Did that get anyones attention. I was digging around in a sack I found of some old markers of mine and found a like new, never thrown flying eye mini. I marked my name on the back when I bought it, like a dumbass, beings I was unaware of its future value. I showed it to Pete at the Ice Bowl. He knew the year and everything. He asked what else I had. I have an unthrown and unmarked Classic Rock with the Dancing Skeletons. How much you gonna offer me for that Classic Rock Pete???
I also found a few old stamp club minis.

General Banter / injury riddled for quite awhile
« on: July 26, 2008, 11:54:33 AM »
man i've had some crap happening alot this past year or so.
first i think my rotator cuff has been messed up for awhile so i lay off disc golf alot when  its bugging me. then my foot got a really bad planters wart on it, more disc golf layoff time. then when  i was off work and not playing due to that i decided to go out to branson w/ my girlfriend. bad idea. i saw a segway track where they allow you to ride a segway and purchase them. they looked fun  till the darn thing started going backwards on me a few times and eventually it causes you to lose your balance trying to right it if you adjust incorrectly. yep, you guessed it. another freakin injury. this time i broke the radial head in my elbow on  my non throwing arm, possibly cracked the sternum area and possible slight concussion. so here i was already off work for the foot cause i could not put my steel toed boots on unless i used crutches or a wheelchair and then this happens.
i can't help trying to make up for all the stuff i missed out on as a kid!! thats what happens when you grow up in a large family!!
the ER doc said i had serious problems!! wondering why i would be trying something slightly risky just after my foot being cut on and barely able to walk on it.
i guess i'm a hazard to my own health
might be till the winter before i play now. that really sucks.

Rosedale / huge sinkhole
« on: June 05, 2008, 11:02:35 PM »
i reported the large sinkhole that is about 53 yards west/ southwest of the gazebo to the wyandotte county parks maintanance department. its directly south of the trees for the long 9 basket placement. i got a call back thursday about 4pm that there will be somebody there from the department at the park friday morning to assess the unsafe condition. its big enough that one of the tractors they cut grass with can fall in. so everyone be careful out there.
i noticed it saturday but have been sidetracked getting it reported.

Winter Leagues / BRING BACK HOMIE!!!!!!
« on: May 14, 2008, 12:15:23 AM »
I am starting a posse to search for and locate the Homer Simpson doll being held hostage.
Anyone interested in joining my posse please leave a message here.
Maybe if the cuplrit sees enough interest in bringing back Homey that Homey will  again be in play!!!
If you need to just resign the doll do so. Just bring him to the picnic w/$25 or play the $1 $kin$ on either the top or bottom on Rosedale.
If you resign the doll I will play down under for Homey for the $1 $kin$ or the group can vote on which course.
Plus i am having a bagtag challenge along with it.
BTW its 20 holes -plus $5 best score overall!!
So if you don't win anything it will cost you an additional $25 to play this...
Bring some dollar bills people!!!

Shawnee Mission / Day of Caring project June 7th
« on: April 21, 2008, 05:15:33 PM »
I have information pertaining to a clean-up day  at the park. It will be June 7th. i am guessing fairly early start time.
This is a community wide organized effort that several companies such as mine are involved in along with non profit organizations.
The exact project consists of clean-up of trash and debris that comes from external sources into the stream and lake at Shawnee Mission Park. Project may not last all day; volunteers work as long as they want. Not sure of the exact location of the park getting the attention but i think a show of enthusiastic disc golfers would be awesome.
I was told all volunteers are invited to a community picnic.
Call if you are interested or just show up.

Rosedale / Down Under workday early Saturday morning March 29th
« on: March 25, 2008, 05:25:13 PM »
I was informed to let people know on this site that John Buckle is doing some tee pad work on Saturday morning March 29th on the Down Under course. We need volunteers with shovels, rakes, 5 or 10 lb. buckets and a couple Gator type ATV's with the bed. Call John Buckle @ 913-485-5289 to inform what you can help with.
