I just ordered two sets of 160 flower bulbs ($9.99 per set from www.bulbsdirect.com
) to plant around tee and pathway areas around the courses in anticipation of Worlds '009. I hope that's a good price - it sure seems like it
Although planting the bulbs are a great idea, the bulbs are normally planted in the Fall and then come up in the Spring. So you won't be enjoying the flowers till next Spring if you were planning on them blooming this year for The Worlds.
Your best bet is to plant annuals like:
petunias, impatiens,pansies,geranium,begonias,snapdragons,amethyst,violets,marigolds,dasies,geraniums,morning glories,phlox,etc...
Some are more hardy than others and can withstand arid conditions while others need more shade.
