« on: April 05, 2009, 06:03:04 pm »
I broke a cardinal rule of tournament play yesterday.  I put a new disc in my bag.  However, I was glad I did. The disc?  The DGA '09 worlds fundraiser, Sparkle Aftershock.  I tried it out on a few throws prior to the 1st round.  I liked how stable it flew even in the strong winds in Topeka yesterday.  I used the disc as my approach disc all day.  It stayed on the line I input it on and wasn't affected by the wind at all.  Too bad my ability to judge distances was its usually terrible. (note to self: walk off distance of drive from tee to get an estimate remaining to the pin)

I thought Mark Martin was bad about that.

NOW YOU???

The putt ain't gonna get any easier if you measure it. Just putt the damn thing.

Can you tell I just came from Homie?

Chappy, I like the idea of at least creating a file share of directions and maps of surrounding area of each course and adding eating establishments.

Maybe be creative and add nightlife activities around the Metro.

I think this course was only set up one time. If it was the time I played it, it was longer than 8 years ago I think.

OK Last call people to play a course that as far as I know was last set up 15 or so years ago.
Don't look at the weather report!! This is a rare event.

Hidden Valley Will be set up on Sunday, April 5th.
I would say your best bet is get there and start in front of the Homie group if you are not wanting to play $1 a hole skins.
The whole course will be set up.
The skinners will be taking a break after 10 holes and grilling.

Sun. April 5th at 9a.m. At the imfamous Hidden Valley Park will be the next Homie round.
That's the word from Buckle. Anybody not wanting to play skins may as well get out there to play this park also.
Jamie Berry ,we are inviting you out too!!
While I'm at it, Jack and Dick are also welcome to join us.

Hidden Valley Park is just to the West of 435 at Parvin Road Worlds of Fun exit go West. 1/2 mile south on bennington west on russell  top of the hill.
Please call Buckle if you can bring a good portable basket.

"This could be your last chance to be good to yourself"... I love Shooting Star!!

I just saw them at The Ameristar Casino in the latter part of last year. They sounded very good. I was glad I went. Ran into a high school fellow star track herdler that knows Dennis too.

Robert,
That sounds like a good gig to go to.

SIKE?  really?  I'm sure Mizzou is proud to claim you.

Help the guy out here... it's spelled P-S-Y-C-H as in "psychology". Some people have it, I never took it... his handle is "Dog Under The Porch" so I doubt he made it to that class either.

I'm sure there's some Kansans out there that STILL don't know how to pronounce "Arkansas" correctly e.g. "the ArkansaS River"...

I have always pronounced it Arkansaw instead of Kansas but got confused on a trip when a local person in Arkansas City,Kansas said he pronounces Arakansaw but for the river and city it was Kansas???

I just ordered two sets of 160 flower bulbs ($9.99 per set from www.bulbsdirect.com) to plant around tee and pathway areas around the courses in anticipation of Worlds '009. I hope that's a good price - it sure seems like it

Although planting the bulbs are a great idea, the bulbs are normally planted in the Fall and then come up in the Spring. So you won't be enjoying the flowers till next Spring if you were planning on them blooming this year for The Worlds.
Your best bet is to plant annuals like:
petunias, impatiens,pansies,geranium,begonias,snapdragons,amethyst,violets,marigolds,dasies,geraniums,morning glories,phlox,etc...
Some are more hardy than others and can withstand arid conditions while others need more shade.

I was surprised The Hawks made it thus far with the big turnover they had from last season. Even if it was a reload the team takes time to gel and they did ALOT better this season than I thought they would. This might be Mizzou's golden opportunity.

$25 is super cheap, if you expect those things, you should plan on paying closer to $50/event

There is a tournament  coming up ,with the same price ranges the DUI had, in Topeka offering a players pack.
Just in case that appeals to you Ash.
