General Banter / Re: Homie Course for Sunday the 21st
« on: December 19, 2008, 11:49:36 pm »
Mantis you must also call everybody on the call list if its still in the box. That is if the #'s are the same.
I have a few people I can call like Buckle.
BTW Jack, I was there. Arturo was not playing Homie then. I can't think of anyone else. Also the last time Homie was being played, pros were playing. It was supposed to be for Advanced Am's ONLY!!
Once it is up for grabs we need some stricter rules to keep him more active. Like if you fail to play him for no reason for a continous period there will be a stiff fine.  $100!! And if so agreed upon by the peers of disc golfers, it may be higher for extended periods!! Fines could be put towards The Worlds or different charities or a donation to The Ice Bowl or to the club. $25 will be pulled from the fine for payment of skins and best round for the next time  it is played. Just like Mantis SHOULD have an extra $25 this Sunday. Tell your brother you spent his $25 Christmas present you were getting him.

The best Homie day I ever had was when we had 12 counting me. We were playing Down Under. No skins had been hit and I hit a hole in one on 8. I won $88 for the skins plus $55 for the people that witnessed it. Then I won 4 more skins somewhere else on the course. That was $44. I deducted my dollar for each hole. Plus I had worst score and took Homie home. I was happy as Hell!! Can anybody top that!! Not meaning money and best round. I mean hitting good money and still taking Homie home. I think I was the first and only to do that. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Well I called Buckle and Mike Lockwood but good luck getting people to show up in  20 below wind chill factor.
We won't be mad if you picked a different Sunday.

Funny Funny  people,,,, I asked for it and haven't yet received it.  Although he has recently moved it is not an excuse so I go through his things and see if we can find him.   If so I will post where and when Homie will be...

That response sounds vaguely familiar. Heres a post from when we had the picnic.

I am starting a posse to search for and locate the Homer Simpson doll being held hostage.
Anyone interested in joining my posse please leave a message here.
Maybe if the cuplrit sees enough interest in bringing back Homey that Homey will  again be in play!!!
If you need to just resign the doll do so. Just bring him to the picnic w/$25 or play the $1 $kin$ on either the top or bottom on Rosedale.
If you resign the doll I will play down under for Homey for the $1 $kin$ or the group can vote on which course.
Plus i am having a bagtag challenge along with it.
BTW its 20 holes -plus $5 best score overall!!
So if you don't win anything it will cost you an additional $25 to play this...
Bring some dollar bills people!!!

Life is short!
Enjoy it even more w/ disc golf!!

I am usually a regular but haven't been able to make it but twice so far. I like splitting it up somehow just so it doesn't take so long. Its not as bad with small #'s, but when you get alot of people attending then there's an issue of everyone teeing off on one.
Sure I enjoy getting to see a few drives but I am waiting instead of playing like I could be doing.

Where the hell is Homie?

Well Tom. I think you should ask Mr  Dresser where Homie is. I confronted Steve Dresser about it and he said his brothers says people will not show up when he had said when and where!!  If you look on posts under Homie he admits his brother has it. I suggested he turn it over immediately but never heard anything. That was last Spring.  You may have better results or maybe we can shame him into handing Homie and the contents of the box over. Hopefully fully intact!!!!!!!

Didn't they mix the mission statement wording up a little on the National Museum of Play website?  I would think it would read Encouraging play to explore learning creativity and discovery.

As far as promotions go. I think having a booth set up at a fair would work pretty well. Ask for donations to the club. Do it at local fairs where we currently have a course to raise awareness. It would get better response in donated funds because the people are relating to the parks by them getting improved or used for a positive aspect. what do you think buddy??

If you don't mind, I can ask my brother Dave to see if he would be interested in sitting in to jam. He has jammed with Scotty and the Soultones, Blue 88, Trampled Under Foot and countless other blues bands and blues musicians.  Kevin Mongomery's cousin (Mark Montgomery) is a well renowned blues musician also.

Hey Dick,
I bought a copy of the book you authored. Can I get you to autograph it so i can pass it onto my daughter so she knows who to blame for the beatings she deserved??
This post was meant for entertainment purposes.

General Banter / injury riddled for quite awhile
« on: July 26, 2008, 11:54:33 am »
man i've had some crap happening alot this past year or so.
first i think my rotator cuff has been messed up for awhile so i lay off disc golf alot when  its bugging me. then my foot got a really bad planters wart on it, more disc golf layoff time. then when  i was off work and not playing due to that i decided to go out to branson w/ my girlfriend. bad idea. i saw a segway track where they allow you to ride a segway and purchase them. they looked fun  till the darn thing started going backwards on me a few times and eventually it causes you to lose your balance trying to right it if you adjust incorrectly. yep, you guessed it. another freakin injury. this time i broke the radial head in my elbow on  my non throwing arm, possibly cracked the sternum area and possible slight concussion. so here i was already off work for the foot cause i could not put my steel toed boots on unless i used crutches or a wheelchair and then this happens.
i can't help trying to make up for all the stuff i missed out on as a kid!! thats what happens when you grow up in a large family!!
the ER doc said i had serious problems!! wondering why i would be trying something slightly risky just after my foot being cut on and barely able to walk on it.
i guess i'm a hazard to my own health
might be till the winter before i play now. that really sucks.

General Banter / Re: English Landing Park in Parkville going in soon!
« on: July 26, 2008, 10:43:07 am »
i know this park well and know it is heavily used for various events but especially used heavily by people that walk the park. before i assess its feasabilty i may have to see the settings but consider this park like loose park. too heavily used by regular public to be feasabale but an assumption made before checking the layout.

man, i tell ya. i had to hold back some emotion when they spontaneously sang happy birthday to me.

solstice has lots of door prizes, beer, girls in bikinis driving the beer cart, good food, fun and lots of great people.
its well worth the cost.

if you are playing solstice doubles at swope, bring out a flyer and i will take it to work and post it. i could use 3 of them for various posting locations throughout the plant. i can also add my # to my flyers so the people i work with would be more comfortable about calling. have you thought about printing up a rules flyer explaining how league works. especially the fact how you show up when you can.

if we get real serious and we get good turnouts we could get someone to sell discs before league to players looking for discs. especially the newbies.
