General Banter / injury riddled for quite awhile
« on: July 26, 2008, 11:54:33 AM »
man i've had some crap happening alot this past year or so.
first i think my rotator cuff has been messed up for awhile so i lay off disc golf alot when  its bugging me. then my foot got a really bad planters wart on it, more disc golf layoff time. then when  i was off work and not playing due to that i decided to go out to branson w/ my girlfriend. bad idea. i saw a segway track where they allow you to ride a segway and purchase them. they looked fun  till the darn thing started going backwards on me a few times and eventually it causes you to lose your balance trying to right it if you adjust incorrectly. yep, you guessed it. another freakin injury. this time i broke the radial head in my elbow on  my non throwing arm, possibly cracked the sternum area and possible slight concussion. so here i was already off work for the foot cause i could not put my steel toed boots on unless i used crutches or a wheelchair and then this happens.
i can't help trying to make up for all the stuff i missed out on as a kid!! thats what happens when you grow up in a large family!!
the ER doc said i had serious problems!! wondering why i would be trying something slightly risky just after my foot being cut on and barely able to walk on it.
i guess i'm a hazard to my own health
might be till the winter before i play now. that really sucks.

General Banter / Re: English Landing Park in Parkville going in soon!

i know this park well and know it is heavily used for various events but especially used heavily by people that walk the park. before i assess its feasabilty i may have to see the settings but consider this park like loose park. too heavily used by regular public to be feasabale but an assumption made before checking the layout.

that was a very rewarding day for me personally and i thank cd for inviting me along. i had several girls step up and look like a pro.
wish i had my camera to take my own pics.
cd, if you can possibly get the pic the lady took of me with my last group i would appreciate it. she took a group pic of the girls and i together.

man, i tell ya. i had to hold back some emotion when they spontaneously sang happy birthday to me.

solstice has lots of door prizes, beer, girls in bikinis driving the beer cart, good food, fun and lots of great people.
its well worth the cost.

if you are playing solstice doubles at swope, bring out a flyer and i will take it to work and post it. i could use 3 of them for various posting locations throughout the plant. i can also add my # to my flyers so the people i work with would be more comfortable about calling. have you thought about printing up a rules flyer explaining how league works. especially the fact how you show up when you can.

if we get real serious and we get good turnouts we could get someone to sell discs before league to players looking for discs. especially the newbies.

get in touch with john buckle. ask him who that was doing the cutting for the steps for going from 9 basket to 10 tee pad. you will need a box of screws but do not lose any cause you will need them all. i bet buckle will even help if not take control of the project. i of course can be on hand to help if i am available that weekend. john's phone # is 913-###-####.

i love this tournament. its the funnest one as long as you don't get hasseled for not paying out on an ace fund that i actually not only funded my own but my partner's as well. this happened during my ctp shot. and my partner shot hassel free. thats what fried my ass.

I believe that at Wyandotte County Lake Park alcohol is permitted in the shelter areas if you have it reserved so the same may be true for Wyco Disc Golf Course. I can check with my parks and rec buddy I know. He's a park ranger that was coming out to Rosedale for awhile but have not seen him lately. I know a few rangers. I guess they move them around or something.

As for the new league, I work in Fairfax and would like to participate but working 2nd shift makes it to where I can only play weekends.
I would post something for you where I work but not sure how much interest you will have. I work for Kelloggs and we have 3 shifts of employees.

General Banter / Re: What is sandbagging in the midwest?
« on: June 05, 2008, 11:20:14 PM »
i tend to scope out what the competition signs up for and gauge where i should be compared to who i compete with frequently. i was playing advanced. then i got old enough to play masters. now the ratings say i can play rec and hold my head high but i would definately be a sandbagger since i have been playing 18 years..
i played red bud open as a intermediate this year and still sucked but finished 4th or 5th.
last year at red bud i played masters and lost the lead during the second round. if i remember i think it was due to how much beer i consumed but it was alot of fun. a disc found the pond too that round ans came back this year!!! what karma...
i only play various events now and do not play nearly as much due to the old body not responding well to repeated rounds week after week so maybe i am a rec player.
how about it sandbagger commentators??

Rosedale / huge sinkhole
« on: June 05, 2008, 11:02:35 PM »
i reported the large sinkhole that is about 53 yards west/ southwest of the gazebo to the wyandotte county parks maintanance department. its directly south of the trees for the long 9 basket placement. i got a call back thursday about 4pm that there will be somebody there from the department at the park friday morning to assess the unsafe condition. its big enough that one of the tractors they cut grass with can fall in. so everyone be careful out there.
i noticed it saturday but have been sidetracked getting it reported.

i am not the longest thrower so i can match up well on that course. if you have a better thing you wanna do go for it but i am challenging those who want to have fun and grab some cash.

This challenge is for anyone who I consider in my competitive range. Bag tags are up for grabs along with the cash.
I'm sporting #103!! Come get some if you can!!
See ya there
