Play Wyco. The grass is always freshly mowed, there is usually a very slight breeze blowing from behind you, and it's usually not to hot or humid. It's really the greatest course on earth. Just sayin.

We must be playing two different courses or maybe I just have bad luck, but in my experience Wyco is the 2nd worst offender behind rosedale for long grass.  Last couple of times I've played out there it's been up to my knees in the fairway.  Very itchy!

Also does anyone else find it strange that they mow super short circles around the baskets, but no where else?  Not sure if they are confused and think it's a putting green or what.

Yeah played with Jake in last years wide open, super nice kid and a great player.  Also had a good mental game and overall attitude for being such a young buck.

Seems to be a common trend on both sides of state line this year unfortunately.  :(

We need a method of of updating potential players of what the current course conditions are like.  Making a ~45min drive out to a course just to lose discs in the fairway stinks.

Two questions:

Does anyone know if Wyco has been mowed recently?  I was out there last week and it was well past my knees in areas making it borderline unplayable.  :/

Also, would it be worthwhile to create a shared google calendar where players could update the current grass conditions and/or mow date at each course?  I can't decide if this is a dumb idea or a good idea. I know public calendars are ripe for exploitation, but personally would enjoy having something to reference before heading out.

Any info on whether the courses will be mowed prior to the event?

Got to play Austin Bible and Roy G this week.

Austin Bible was really fun.  Tight and technical, very rocky terrain and pretty challenging.  Very hard course to navigate if by yourself, pay attention to tee signs indicating next pad location.

Roy G is very long, and consists of many ~600 foot tunnel shots if that interests you.  I would say roller city, but the grass was unkept and wading knee deep in weeds on the fairway isn't uncommon.  Hopefully they mow it often as I felt I would have enjoyed it much more if maintained.

Ahhh... sad to see you go Sam, was great playing with you.

Also try not to get eaten alive by the mosquitos down there!  Just kidding.  Not really.

I meant check-in times, and you're right.  I looked over the flyer a couple times and didn't see it.  Must be blind.

Is there a reason flyers don't include tee times?  If you were from out of town or didn't know about these forums would have no clue when to show up.

Buffalo Ridge is a great course.

They recently added another 9 holes within the last year or two.  Did you play all 27 holes or just 18?

I always recommend Buffalo since it seems like the most "Arizona-esque" of all the local courses with it's abundance of cactus, palo verdes, and overall desert setting.   Also really hot.  I think many of the locals only play there in the fall/winter due to the heat.

Shame about the old rickety single-chain baskets but it makes up for it with great elevation change throughout the course.

This course is on school grounds correct, so I'm assuming the no alcohol policy will be in effect?

I'm assuming The Abyss already came and went and I missed it?
