Buffalo Ridge is a great course.

They recently added another 9 holes within the last year or two.  Did you play all 27 holes or just 18?

I always recommend Buffalo since it seems like the most "Arizona-esque" of all the local courses with it's abundance of cactus, palo verdes, and overall desert setting.   Also really hot.  I think many of the locals only play there in the fall/winter due to the heat.

Shame about the old rickety single-chain baskets but it makes up for it with great elevation change throughout the course.

This course is on school grounds correct, so I'm assuming the no alcohol policy will be in effect?

I'm assuming The Abyss already came and went and I missed it?

You better be playing in those flip flops Joe.

I really enjoyed Hunter when I was down in Tulsa.

Blackhawk was unfortunately full of standing water at the time, otherwise I would have liked it more.

I'd play if it weren't 100 degrees.

Same here, I'm too much of a pansy.  100F with next to no shade is where I draw the line.

Sorry guys.

Lakeside Hills / 8/25 lakeside round

Looking to throw a round in the morning in preparation of Old Settlers, if anyone is planning on doing the same.  Probably around 10-11am.

I played on Tuesday and it was fairly long, looked like it had not been cut in a while.

General Banter / Re: Disc Golf shoes

I have gone through three pairs of Keen 'disc golf' shoes now (two Delaveagas and one Milo II).  They are nice shoes, but in my experience the sole on them wears out very quickly - and after 4 months of use I'm slipping and sliding on the teebox from a lack of tread.

However, thanks to their exceptional warranty service I picked up the new Wichita model about 3 months ago and it's hands down my favorite Keen that I've owned.  Comfortable, lots of tread on the bottom, and a tad more breathable than Delas.  Only downside is non waterproof.

I've also found cheap Merrells and Keens at DSW(designer shoe warehouse I think).

Agreed.  DSW is a great place to find last years trail shoes from Merrell or Keen on the cheap.

It's a pretty fun course.  Fairly open overall, with medium to long holes combined with mostly flat terrain and a water hole as bonus.

Also make sure you play Warner Park if you have time!

Rosedale / 16's fairway
« on: June 28, 2013, 09:05:34 AM »
I've been kinda absent on the forums so this might have already been covered, but what happened to the two guardian trees on 16's fairway?

I'm assuming these had to be removed due to that same beetle infestation?  Poor trees  :(  I hugged the one still standing and I think it made him feel better about losing his friends.

General Banter / Re: Latitude 64 Pure

Yeah, I've been throwing Pure's for over a year and a half now and have nothing but great things to say about them.

I originally switched over after putting with Magic's for the longest time.  My main complaint with Gateway is their lack of consistency in the plastic, making it a total guessing game when ordering online.  Sometimes that disc labeled as SSS comes to you feeling like a firm instead.  Bleh :/

Anyways, pick one up and see if it feels good in your hands.  The disc itself has a fairly shallow rim compared to something like a Wizard, and has a pronounced beveled edge making it pretty unique.  I think it's the best feeling putter on the market, and the Lat64 zero line plastic is hands down my favorite plastic for circle putting.  Be advised that the zero line gets banged up pretty quickly if you are using it off the tee.

As far as flight, they are pretty neutral to slightly understable with a good amount of glide.  It's not going to handle a strong headwind without turning over, but in calm conditions it's stable enough to not have to worry about overpowering it.  I've heard the Opto version referred to as a mini-Buzzz, and I couldn't agree more.  Put it on it's line and watch it go towards the target.

Give it a shot if interested, I love it but YMMV.  I use the grippy zero-soft line for putting, and the Opto exclusively for all tee and upshots.

As a Mission resident, this would be a very welcomed addition to the area - 9 holes or not.  Rosedale is great, but attempting to play solo is generally frustrating due to how busy it is during all hours of the day.

Based on the comments it seems the suburban moms aren't aware of any of the benefits disc golf.  :(

I sure hope the plan goes through!
