Tournaments / Re: 2015 - Heartland MS Open Parkville MO April 4th
« on: April 04, 2015, 10:58:37 PM »
Here is what I had for scores. Now note that some folks didn't turn in scorecards and a few went by their nickname and a couple put no names but most just put their first name or initials. This makes it difficult in determining the proper scores, so if anything looks funny it is easily fixable but we doubled checked everything. I think I got everything else and met some wonderful people along the way. Volunteers and charity tournaments are always a fun group with non disc golfers and a chance to introduce them to our big Kansas City Disc Golf Family. Thank you to all who played and attended, hope you had fun today.

Pete and Mark are pros that play for cash MPG is their division.

Dynamic Discs events offer 2 divisions on the flyer, Grandmasters (MPG) and Advanced Grandmasters (MG1).  It takes a 3 people to make a division.

General Banter / Re: Charitable Giving as a part of events
« on: December 22, 2014, 04:11:06 PM »
I would like to add some good vibes now because I know this question was introduced out of kindness and concern for the community around us.

To start, thank you all for the comments. The above was truthful and that is the only kind of useful data. So being honest about it will get us to the next step.
The concern here is when you give to the charity they might overlook the person that lives next door to you, and that person might need something vital to survival, and you would never want them to suffer or even live a lesser existence. So not saying anything bad about giving to charity, we want to help as much and as many as we can find.

The first step is getting the stuff to give away and I have been motivated to collect coats. I will collect as many coat sizes as I can all year long and pass them out around Halloween before it gets cold. Coats For KC and whoever needs one. I run a few tournaments during the year and I want to have an option to accept voluntary coat donations day of the tournament like a drop off location.

I can't say that I think it's a good idea to ask for a donation with every tournament entry but I think the point here is to start talking and get the ball rolling.
Ps much love to the KC Disc Golf community. I have found to be the most caring and giving group I have ever been affiliated with.

That is my good buddy Mike. It's probably a King.
He plays Rosey every day all day. Everybody that plays Rosey knows him. You will find him playing with Charlie.
Drop it by Dynamic if you want to I'll get it to him.

Thank you all who played and helped to make this event better. We had some fun with the new holes and made some new friends. Good times had at good ol Rosey.
Special thank you to Scott Reek for prep work and Mike Petrin for day of help.

Ok, so I asked for a donated coat for a friend, and planned on buying him some gloves and hat but what people donated was...
Practically new snowboarding coat (better than the one I have. Haha)
New winter gloves
New winter face-protecting neckscarf headwear (I can't wait to get one of these now for winter golf)
Vintage skateboard hoodie
Vintage pullover jacket
Skateboard t shirt
New disc of his choice voucher
New winter socks
New under armour long sleeve
New beanie
and multiple other offers

The young man was very thankful and said his mom would be very thankful also.
So the best part of the story is he used to play disc golf with his dad growing up. He stuck around after I gave him all the stuff and told me some stories about good times he remembers playing disc golf and how good his dad was especially at #8 Rosedale up top.
Turns out he was one of our own the whole time.

Yes a winter coat project is perfect. I feel we need more of this so I will be looking for more opportunities to help those in need around me.
Thank you for everyone that helped and all those who offered and wanted to help.

Happy story ... I gave him the coat and gloves  just in time for the walk to get his mom tonight. It's feels even colder tonight but he will be comforted with the warmth of the kindness KCDG  family.

You guys are so amazing. Already solved! Coat, hat, and gloves!
I plan on giving him some discs also and tell him how great our big KC DG family is and invite him out to play.

Thanks for all your help
I love everyone of you for showing kindness to strangers in need
