Club Archives / Re: KCWO 2007 Songs by Slim

By unpopular demand here are the lyrics of The 25th Wide Open Official Song.

25th Kansas City Wide Open Official Song
Disc Golfers Refrain. (Originally sung at the 15th Wide Open, changes made for current conditions)

Get Down, Get up, get over
Sounds like an old country song
Get Down, Get up, and get over
Is what we yell when we play- ay disc golf

I throw my Roc as hard as I want to
Its so stable it flies like the breeze
I shank a Whippet with muuuucho mungo
I goes stands up and coon dogs a tree    ((Hooooowlll)

Cause it didn’t get up, or get down but it turned over
It’s a disc golfers refrain
We yell Get up, get down, and get over
In the Wind, and the Sun, and the Rain

Welcome to 25th Wide Open
For It is the best in the land
By the time that its all over
Will it be Nate Doss or Crabtree, the man.

Cause Pros know how to get up, get down and turn it over
Their arms as strong as their knees
So get it up, get on down and get over it
And enjoy your stay in KC.                             Jim Neal 1997/2007

Solsticers,
Get ready for a little heaven. Damn we are sick if we think new flags, new paint and short holes are what we desire.....
The Course has been moved to Solstice lengths, mostly short.
Look for Accuracy Long drive contest
Look for Ctp with an attitude.
Look for the awesom raflle
& Look out for the noon start, sunset[/font] is 9:14 factoring in the glow fom the moon which will be a sliver at best.
No rain, just a lot of sun and heat. Prelude to a meltdown. Sounds like a good tiltle for my new book.

Be kind, don't hit my trees.
Just in case I will be selling my "Jimmmys Speshul Wud RAepel;ant" for my favorite charity, The Swope Love Society,

Awful is as awful does, to paraphrase Forrest Gump.

Though not marked now, it will be at the Wife Open, ooopps Wide Open,
There is a lot of green matter growing on it now, but use your imagination on the worst possible OB delineation.

Going northbound there is a glimmer of hope if you keep to the left roadside grass area. It is only est. 150 OB there. Of course you are tight to the road which is also OB.
Going southbound it is pretty much all or nothing. A weenie arm like myself would short pitch to the nearside of the OB. Though lame, it may give you 50-75 feet advance to attempt to get across Pretender Lake.
Also if you shoot straight across, maybe even a little to the right, you have a chance of making it across (est 250 ft). You have to work probably two shots to make it back to the pin. This is way better than multiple OB attempts.

See Tincup, the movie

Swope / Re: Swope Pin Settings Gold Course

The Gold Course is in at Swope for the foolhardy. We are using the red practice baskets for now.
I will have maps of the revised front nine in the mag rack.
Note: It is not like previous years. OB will be in play in the Rock Gardens. I am not sure about mandatory on 1.
It goes: #1 standard to the railroad tie platform, #2 tee is regular #4 tee shooting to regular #5 pin long left (in the valley), #3 tee  is past the house and road shooting north to Starlight, across Pretender Lake (ob). #4 tee is Starlight shooting south across Pretender Lake left hillside. #5 tee is right of 4 pin shooting south to
Administration Bldg. #6 and the rest follow the regular course. Also note: 2 pin positions have been moved on #9, a little right of their previous locations.
Anything to keep you guessing.
If you are confused it is your own damn fault.

The best part of a primo idea is actually controlling it.
To control the idea is to actualize it.
To actualize the idea is to be part of the community.
To be part of the community is to commune, as in, be a part of.

It could happen but it takes more than words.

It is picture purty.
Try it out for the Swope Spring Renewal Sunday May 20.

The fee is a credit card surcharge (5% I believe)
The course is supposed to be mowed today (Friday)
If not, consider this. The tall grass is seeding grass, as you go by, grab the seeding strands and distribute to bare spots.
Just pay more attention to where your disc my go. I played last night with a group, we had no problem.
Do spray your legs for chiggers.
