Found and Lost / Re: Swope Lost & Found
« on: February 12, 2007, 06:34:36 PM »
This is where it gets tough. While I will try to be helpfull, I can't spend time calling people and coordinating delivery and pickup schedules.
If you want it for your friend, maybe we can work something out.

Club Archives / Re: KCWO 2007
« on: February 08, 2007, 09:49:05 PM »
The 25th Kansas City Wide Open is coming. It is old. Many of the KCWO7 steering committee are old too, just look at me. It is going to showcase the best KC metro has to offer. It won't be easy, but we have a good system that requires everybody to have a good time, no matter what the level. It requires volunteers, marketing, sponsors and enthusiasm, and some new blood. If you or any other young friend can help in any way, even if you are going to play, let us know.
Just think, some day you may be running the 50th Wide Open. Just cast my ashes at Swope. Wait a minute, I am only 52 that would make me 77, hell I could have a bionic arm by then, then I can whip your ass. Lord knows trees would be extinct, that would make driving much easier. I am serious, help now before it is too late. Look for kcwideopen.com to be updated soon.

Swope / Swope course report 1/3/07
« on: January 08, 2007, 10:00:11 PM »
January 3, 2007

I missed the Chain Mail issue release. So I am right on schedule.

A new year dawns on Swope Park Disc Golf Course. In the ground pushing 30 years it has undergone major transformations over the duration.
I think it is in the best condition ever. I would know, this is my 27th year.
Thanks to Dan Cashen for having the vision and werewithal to move dirt, plant grass, upgrade the facilities and closely work with the Parks & Rec crew for the past umpteen years.
I will try to continue the tradition.
The Pro Shop was painted last summer, many thanks to Patrick Smith and his crew.
There are new plantings around the Pro Shop and  10. The leaves were mulched recently.
Many trees were cut down last year. I will be working with P&R on new plantings. I trimmed many low branches this fall.
Some of the multitude of pin placements have been reduced and will follow a color coded order in regards to distance.
I have also developed a readable map that will be in the magazine rack. The goal is to have the color indicator for the daily basket location on each tee sign. Sweet.
Look out for the Swope Love Society (SLS) crew that we have formed to take care of the mundane tasks of moving baskets, trash duty and general maintenance.
They are Mark and James Arnold, Shaun Eller, Nathan Fishback, Dan Coffman and myself. Anybody else who wants to join, just give me call. Thanks to Dan Coffman for posting pin movements already.
I have been out of commission for the last month, recovering from a Swope Park stunt in the early December snow. Mating trees is hard on the pelvis of an old man, especially on a reluctant elm, but it did'nt stop me from trying. But I am ready to get out and blast some plastic. I hope to kill the tree that almost killed me.
There is a new lock on the Pro Shop. If you need in let me know and a representative of the SLS will coordinate. Currently there is no sales product there.
I have not confirmed League Runner, but will advise. Come on out and play where you can hear seals barking in the distance, or maybe a good band. Remember daylight savings time start early this year, March 11 and ends in early November.

If you have to ask, it is later than you think. Slim.
Does anybody really know what time it is? Chicago
Time is on your side. Rolling Stones
The times they are a changin'. Bob Dylan.
Its that time of the season. The Animals
Gonna have a good time, gonna have a really good time. Some band somewhere. In the far distant past.

Time out, Slim

Yep, yep,yeo\\\
I guess we'll have to paint and repaint again.
That's why God made hardware stores.

BTW: Don't step on the new plants.

The best thing about change is that it never changes.

Daylight (non savings) time starts Sunday.

Swope / Don't Panic
« on: October 15, 2006, 10:20:52 PM »
Chaos is Good. Clarification is in order.

1) I am not a granddad yet., But my daughter is dating. Maybe I'll get lucky.
2) I still have most of my teeth.
3) I do this on a volunteer basis. Much like my auto mechanic, I am slow, expensive, and don't gaurantee my work.
4) Since 1980 I have picked up and disposed of 45,651 pieces of something.
    But who's counting?
5) Be glad we have some of the best courses in the world in your backyard.
They didn't come about by themselves.
6) That's all I got to say about that. (Forrest Gump)

You are correct, I also may elect to push hole 1 to 17, 2 to 7, 7 to practice,
8 to 9, etc, etc.
I will have maps for the final analysis.
Bring your own set of extra arms.
