Will the winds ever die down? 15-20 mph for the 4 Adv Masters, 13 Open some Masters and the one and only Angela Plitsch. Beckett Carduff aced (again!) this time it's number 10. Last week he brought 5 six packs of beer for the first ace. He carried over 2 miles under his arm in a brown paper grocery sack on his bicycle. Thank goodness he was too tired to ace last week. His accuracy has his club dues paid to the end of this decade and now he should probably bring 2 cases next week for draining the ace fund.

sorry to shatter another of your beliefs, cd, but you haven't gotten the first part correct. hope you didn't have big plans for the bonus points, which by the way, when accompanied by $5 gets you entry to any league in town.
I'll give you a hint: the baskets were acquired in 19 and 82 and the first two wfo's were temporary set ups.

Swope / Course Needs
« on: April 21, 2005, 12:07:44 PM »
the basic design of swope is over 20 years old. sean is right if we had more usuable space we could probably have a better, more difficult course.
the nickname gully golf course came from that very litimitation of throwing back and forth across a gully.
one of the issues I keep seeing is too many people with keys to the holes.
if we could keep some of the long placements for more than a round or two it might be more of a challenge for those taking a break from ice fishing.
as the course coordinator, I would love to see more people contributing more than words. I got involved because I heard a lot of pissing and moaning about how something realtively inconsequential wasn't right or there was dirt on the tees.
bear in mind that a lot of these courses have been too short for well over 15 years. nobody says you have to play from the designated tee to the designated hole. if it ain't enough for you then play a 700 foot hole. if that still doesn't cut it play tedz dread and then give us your feedback.

Anyone out there know the date our dear, departed Ace Mason braved the wind, rain, lightning, and almost certain temptation to install the original baskets?

25 KCFDC Club Bonus Points for also knowing where those baskets came from.

No one under 5'6" eligible to enter.

you can call ted at 913 530 3312 a couple days before you want to golf and he can more than likely show you around the course.
you're also welcome to come out the weekend of april 23 and 24 and watch, play some holes in between tourney rounds, or play in the event.

at the tin man they were proposing two rounds on saturday, one of 18 on sunday with a final 9 of the top open players. those who finish will know they played some golf.

ted is the man. he handles glow so well that he ended up selling the last stick to barely break even. he's someone who truly does it for the love of the game.
next time you see him give him a cookie.

from what I've heard from woodz and ted everyone is welcome to play. they figured with wyco going on they'd host sunday to round out the weekend and as a warmup for the 4th annual redbud open in two weeks. that's cool that maceman is running it.
keep in mind that ted's dread is the longest, most difficult course around these parts. they've been able to use the terrain to create some incredible holes that require every throw in your bag. experienced players have been known to exceed 70. beckett carduff holds the course record of 56. add the blooming redbuds and occasional morel mushroom and there's not another golf course on a family farm that compares.
there will be camping friday and saturday night. if ted and woodz don't ask for a few bucks it would be nice for folks to throw some cash in the jar to help keep the course going.
ted can be reached at 913 530 3312 and woodz at 816 333 3105.
