who said anything about gold rope? heaven forbid we offer a challenging course to those who want to experience something beyond pitch and putt.
looking at the calendar we don't have many dates that won't conflict with other regional events. end of march beginning of may? when do you all want to do this thing?

please don't feel like any of you can use geauzinier without at least one circle R behind it.
years and years of market research went into the creation of that name and if you knew any of the history associated with it you'd have a heck of a lot more respect for it. or maybe you see right thru it and realize it's almost as important as what brand of plastic you throw. doesn't everyone know that discraft is the only way to fly?

the original name is still intact. since the course is evolving it seems only fitting that the words chosen to lure eager participants do so as well.
how bout the Swope Spring Fling Zing Sling Bling Wing Ding A Go Go?

I know woodz has been encouraging sunday morning/noonish league. they appreciate a $5 per player contribution or ask about a workday to trade out for some of kansas city's most challenging golf.

due to both ignorance and indifference on the part of your course custodian we need to find a new name for the spring gala.
in the interest of evolution I am proposing a naming contest, the winner getting free entry into the tournament. all kansas residents are excluded given that in that state evolution is but theory.
all suggestions can be posted here or thrown at us at the park.

dr. jack lowe and I attended a meeting 2/17 about the Master Plan for swope.
the overall improvements to the park will have little impact on the course itself. there are plans to make the intersection of elmwood and gregory safer and landscape the corner around 16.
as part of the Front Door District, "...landscaped open spaces, Starlight Theater, the Zoo, daily use amenities, and historical elements.", the description and recommendations for the disc golf course: "The rolling terrain and dense tree canopy of this area have become home to a top flight 18-hole disc golf course. The course hosts many professional disc golf tournaments as well as regional and local tournaments.
Recommendations:
Construct two small ponds to serve as water hazards for the course; and Provide new tree plantings for planned succession of the existing mature trees."
we also brought to their attention the hillsides that seem to have broken water lines. maybe we should have a get together for the parks folks when things warm up, give them a chance to walk the course.
as an aside, jack told me that 5/14 is the date of the city's biggest disc golf day being held at rosedale. watch this space for more info.

Swope / Spring Renewal

Due to popular demand the Swope Spring Renewal will be returning to our beloved Gully Golf Course. The date being tossed around is May 14th, since that is Mother's Day all mothers will play free. Since this date is less than a month before the Wide Open it should also serve as a tuneup for the big show.
Watch this space for workdate postings, in the meantime help improve your course by picking up trash. (Hint: cigarette butts are trash).
We'll be recycling as much of the aluminum as possible this year, the money will come back to the Tuesday league in October.
