Great course
« on: January 12, 2014, 05:54:21 PM »
Played Old Pike today for the first time. Loved this course. Probably in my top 3 favorites in Kc. I can only imagine how much it changes with leaves on the trees.
Calm down, this is just for fun.

I heard it was $5 to play, so I put the cash in the drop box with the top pryed open. I'm sure it's still there.

the one time i was there last summer i saw a sign in the parking lot on the left side that said if the club house is open they would like you to go inside and let them know you are playing, nothing else. any money you want to give as a donation is much appreciated, according to the sign. clubhouse was not open when i played. and i didn't leave my five for the next golfer. haha and yes, it is a very sweet course. i dig the hanging knee pad for the roller hole. awesome sauce.

The telescope was my favorite.  This course is awesome and bizzare.  Some holes make me feel like I'm on the Gong Show.

Thank you for your compliments on the course.  We didn't have much land to work with; so, I wanted the course to be challenging and quirky.  Many of the quirky items have been stolen, which is one of the reasons the course went private.   The donation box is not secure.  Maybe A Cashen box is needed.

In order to limit vandalism and trash, the course is for members of the Old Pike country club or disc golf memberships are available.   Historically, membership has been $50 per year.   its a great time to sign up for 2014. Please contact me for membership information.

OP Mike that sucks you've had problems with vandalism. I hesitate to pay $50 for a membership because I would then have to convince all the guys I play with to also become members and as you probably already know most people just aren't willing to do that. Also since I live south of lees summit it's a bit of a drive to play enough rounds to warrent the fee. On the other hand it could bring more people and cash to the course if those who could only play it 2-5 times a year could donate $5 to play. I'm probably repeating things you already know but I would be bummed knowing my friends and I can't play that kick ass course.

Sounds like local kids.  Any reputable disc golfer does not damage the course he/she plays on.  Its those kids I tell ya.

Strengthen away, you can always play league on Mondays (in the winters) Tues, in summer. If you do that $1 goes to OP, you are always welcome to give me or Mike an extra donation ahead of time for casual rounds!
