Practice Basket - Lakeside
« on: January 17, 2014, 10:19:22 PM »
Out throwing discs into the wind yesterday and noticed the practice basket has some damage to the facemask.   Just a heads up if anyone saw it unabused the day before.  Time was 11am.

You need to follow through a bit higher . . . then you can damage some chains instead . . .

This kind of stuff is soooooo frustrating!!  I guess my questions are:  Is there a way to put a gate and lock this side of the lake like they do in sections of the other side of the lake?  Also, are there plans to put some kind of motion detector (perhaps a solar powered or battery powered) flood light in an inconspicuous place that can light they basket area up during the dark of the night?  This flood light can also contain a remote camera (like hunters use to record movement of animals).  My thoughts are the light may be just enough of a deterrent  that these offenders might scadaddle when 'lit up', and if not, the motion activated video recorder will roll tape and hopefully provide some evidence of who is tampering with our baskets (and perhaps catch a glimpse of their vehicle too).  I realize that there are a lot of other possibilities as to the when's/how's/why's of this, but I am wondering if there are proactive ways the city or the club can help curb the trending vandalism to this course...in particular the practice basket.  I also realize that this kind of thing may be easier to just 'deal with' and replace or repair broken things than it is to try and formulate some sort of action plan to stop vandalism in the first place.  I was just thinking out loud here because I love this course and the property it is on,and I want to see it stay beautiful in every way (for golfers and for the community that accesses the lake for sport or leisure).

Did the city remove the basket?

It was there on Monday. To be honest it looks like a mower hit it.

It's gone.  I just was wondering if it was the city repairing it or something.

I removed it to the City's barn. They are either going to fix it or replace it. They hit it with a loader while doing some tree trimming.

Thanks Tom.  Accidents are acceptable.  It's an accident when I shoot par.
