2015 Ice Bowl
« on: November 14, 2014, 11:49:10 PM »
Is there talks of a date for this tournament yet? I was hoping it would be close to my birthday(January 22nd). Had a blast last year. It was my first tournament.

Once the coordinator(s) are decided or volunteers, I would like to discuss the commercial beverage sponsor.

Am I understanding correctly that the historical one large Rosedale Ice Bowl is not happening?

http://kcfdc.org/forum/index.php?topic=10988.0

Or, is this dicussion in addition to the main Rosedale Ice Bowl event?

It's in addition too, although something like this would likely reduce the #'s of attendees at the Rosedale one. The others would be satellite events.

The date for the main KC Ice Bowl is January 24-25 at Rosedale. We're shooting to raise a cool $10K this year, a mere $800 more than last's year all-time record. Readers of this form will probably know that Jack Lowe has initiated discussion about holding satellite fund-raising events at other courses in towns farther away from KC. Regardless of how this pans out (and I'm hoping that it does), we will still need volunteers at Rosedale, especially on Sunday, January for the traditional Ice Bowl celebration.

If you can help on Sunday, we need assistance for setting things up, player registration and check-in, chili contest registration, merch sales, ancillary events help, raffle/ctp ticket sales, scorecard checking, next round confirmation checking, controlling trash, deploying the final round, and so on and so on.

Give me a call, text, or email if you can help out or you have any questions.

Anyone interested in helping with sponsorship (not just money, but things like a big generator, soft drinks, food, beer, etc) or hitting up friends, family, and co-workers to support the cause by giving pledges, here are links to:

I have some ideas on the beer.  I would like to take the conversation off line with whomever is in charge.

Wasn't Cinderblock involved last time with beer? They're legit. We might also try KC Bier Co as they're newer. Big Rip was involved with an event at Thornfield earlier in the year as well.

I'd be happy to help out with registration, merchandise, raffle, or whatever. Do I still get to play at some point?

Ideally, we will have enough staff members, so that all who want to play some golf, get to.

I'm going to put this out there so hopefully everyone is aware of limitations of even a very large generator. If you plan on bringing chili. Please bring a camp stove and propane to limit the amount of electricity needed. I'll ask my cousin about the generator, deliver, pick-up and free fuel. Last year we had issues with generating enough power for all the crock pots and electrical devices brought. We may need to rely on a second generator.
