Cliff Drive League Night April 14
« on: April 13, 2014, 01:00:49 PM »
League will kick off tomorrow at 530. I'm pretty sure Scott has it set fairly long for the City of Fountains the 19th, so we will need ample time to finish our round with daylight. I'm hoping to build off our solid turnout we had at Blue Valley last Monday night. I'll be there by 5 tomorrow. If any one will be cutting it close shoot me a text or give me a call so i can get you signed up and on a card. 913-526-2974 Thanks for reading.

To make it "shorter" if you want to....I know it's not in the CoF configuration then, but may be able to make it "faster"....Throw 2 on 8, the first one to the "Hanger" and then the second one to original.  Thus creating 8 and 9.  Play #11 to the "practice red" basket, and then on #17 throw from the pad to the #18 basket.  Takes out a lot of the distance in walking and should help with the daylight issues.  When it is cloudy, it gets darker much faster.  Food for thought as I find myself doing that to keep daylight options open.

The only thing I'm worried about is tearing up the course the week of a tournament for a few dollars.

Ha what is that supposed to mean?!  That $9 from last week didn't last me very long and surely isn't going to buy dinner!!

Matt checked in with me, and my take on the course this early in the season, that a few people maybe 3 cards of players aren't going to be tearing up the course too bad.  It may be cold enough as well to keep the ground harder.  I like to stop on the edge of safety and consideration for the course is always first to me, but having been out there this weekend, I don't think that a few of you out there will harm it any more than if we had 10-15 people out casually playing.  It rained yesterday not today, so I think that you are ok.  If it was yesterday I would have said, no shut it down.....on days it rains that hard this early in the season you need to let the ground rest a day or so, and it really has had that chance now.

Quick shout out to a guy named Dennis who played league at Cliff tonight. The guy had a golf cart fall on his femur three years ago resulting in a compound fracture in three different places. Many surgeries and a few titanium rods later, he is out on the course doing his best on one leg. With the help of one crutch, he threw a 70, +12 tonight. From a stand still, he was able to shoot well on a beast of a course with pretty hefty winds tonight. Well done Dennis and thanks for stopping in KC! You've got an amazing course out in Santa Cruz to call your home but we hope you enjoyed the courses in our home while you were here.

The scores from our card were as follows (not sure on the other card, but Matt will post them in due time) :

Jordan - 57 $12
Jose - 61 $9
Derek - 69
Dennis - 70

Shot of the night was probably Derek's throw in from 100+ on hole 8 to save par.  We all had our fair share of mediocre shots, but any night of golf is better than a night without it.  Adios muchachos.
