Club Meeting and Elections Wednesday November 8th

The Fall General Membership meeting will be held Wednesday November 8th at the Point 917 W 44th St, Kansas City, MO.

The meeting will get started at 6pm with a social hour then the program will start at 7pm. Food and beverage will be provided. This meeting is open to all dues paid club members. You may renew your membership at the meeting. We will also have club merchandise available so bring your KC Kash.

Here's a note from Jack about topics to be discussed.

Just a word of warning, this statement is not necessarily true:
"...and all your money that you give to the KCFDC (with the exception of leagues) would be tax deductible at the end of the year."

For example, tournaments.  Let say the entry fee is $30.  For your entry fee you receive two rounds, a t-shirt and a disc.  If you wrote a $30 check to the KCFDC, only a small portion is technocally deductable.  You have to subtract the value of goods and services recieved.
-$2.00 for the golf
-$10 for the t-shirt
-$10 for the disc
______________
$22
$8.00 is deductable

I'm not trying rain on the parade here, and if there are any tax attorneys or accountants reading this, correct me if I'm wrong?  This is an area that the IRS has really been cracking down on in the last few years.  Not that they would audit everyone who took a $30 write off, they would likley look at the non-profit to determine what they communicated to the donors.

Basically that was slightly out of context, any money for any event is truly not tax deductible, I just was using the leagues as an example.  For donations to the club though it would be a different story.  We are not working on saying that the events that you play become tax deductible, but rahter if you were to donate money for the benefit of the club or one of your courses would then be a tax dedcutible contributions.  Dues, events, leagues, would typically not fall under the guise of a tax deduction (though I believe I may be wrong in the dues portion of it)  We are just starting to take steps in this endeavor but should be moving that direction to help us all out.

There was a good turnout for the general meeting last night. I counted about fourty club members enjoying sandwiches, chips, soft drinks and beer. The meeting was informative and a lot was accomplished. Here's a recap of the election:
