It sure will be!  There should be plenty of discs there for everyone so no need to worry about that if any of your friends or relatives don't have any.  The first 100 people will get one free and then after that I will have loaner discs from DD for people to use for the day as well as all of my extras that are laying around.  Hope to see everyone there tomorrow!

P.S. I believe all of the baskets have inner chains now so those ace runs should stick!

I went to the Indep. DG Day last year and enjoyed playing a cleaned up W.Yates. But I wonder what came of our show of support for DG in Independence. I know John and Jordan were gung ho about this potential course, but I haven't heard about it in almost a year. What's up?

The idea is still present and I think the City of Independence is on board in theory, but the means to do so is currently at a stand still.  The City of Independence wants a written confirmation from the Department of Natural Resources saying we can proceed.  They feel it is necessary because the land is currently being monitored by the DNR since it is an old landfill in some areas.  Since there will be digging in some areas we have to be sure it is approved in the area we would like to use.  By our maps, it appears the area for the course was not used for the landfill.....I gather that DNR says it would be a good use of the land (to have a disc golf course) over the phone etc, but they have not yet put pen to paper....Once a letter is received we can reconvene with them.  So, stay tuned is the best advice I can give at this point; the idea is still alive.

Jordan is staying on top of this and has been very proactive.  There has been a lot of correspondence by email.

It definitely requires patience and often times takes several years to get the course/land approved, and then you are looking at several more years to clear the land and get it ready.

So....maybe we will have a course by 2020 ;D  But, Independence parks and rec will be receiving a great deal of park revenue  in next few years due to a park tax passing so money should not be an issue.

Ha! A Zager and Evans reference.....  Nicely done. Saw Todd Rundgren perform that tune live last year.

PS I'm still working with P&R in Independence y'all.  Sometimes it's a waiting game, but I'm not letting it slip!
