Can someone in  a nutshell explain the Tier system? Thanks in advance for any light you may be able to shed.

Majors (Dates by 15 Oct)
· Host by PDGA invitation only
· AMATEUR: Worlds, Junior Worlds, US Championship, US Masters, US Women’s, World
Doubles, Mid-Nationals
· PRO: Worlds, US Championship, US Masters, US Women’s, World Doubles, Mid-Nationals
· Exclusive weekend for Majors from all NT and A Tier events where divisions would conflict,
except for US Am DGC, US Masters DGC, US Women’s DGC, Mid-Nationals, & World
Doubles.
· Exclusive radius of 500 mi from all lower Tier events, where divisions would conflict.
· (24) PDGA Touring Player Card spots held up to fourteen (14) days in advance on first
come first serve basis
· Signed Event Agreement received by PDGA 6 mo prior
· $0 sanction fee
· Complementary PDGA Tour Insurance
· PDGA current Membership mandatory

· Entry fee(s) fixed by PDGA in consultation with Host
· Player Code of Conduct required
· Amateur/Junior Worlds will offer larger player packages and lower payout, similar to US

players, unless event is not full (7) days in advance. Min of four (4) players per division
required to open a senior division.
· Cannot be held on same weekend as a Pro Major.
· Exclusive radius of 1500 mi from Pro A Tier and 400 mi from all lower tier events, where
Pro divisions would conflict.
· (24) PDGA Touring Player Card spots held up to fourteen (14) days in advance on first
come first serve basis, subject to event entry requirements.
· Events listed on PDGA Tour Poster and PDGA Tour Program
· Signed Event Agreement received by PDGA 3 mo prior
· Two or three-day event only
· $100 sanction fee WAIVED
· Complementary PDGA Tour insurance
· PDGA current Membership mandatory
· $5 player fee
· Tournament format at option of Host
· Trophies to be provided by Host

radius of 1000 miles from other Pro SuperTour events, exclusive radius of 750 miles from

conflict.

· Signed Sanctioning Agreement and Fee received by PDGA 1 mo prior
· One or two-day event only
· $75 sanction fee
· $3 player fee
· $5 PDGA event fee required for all non-current, non-members, and developmental
members, except Juniors.
· Player Code of Conduct requested
· PDGA provides TD Scoring Package; scores by round requested to be posted at pdga.com
· PRO: $250 Sponsor Cash Added to Pros, $1,750 minimum Pro Purse, 110+% of entry fee
payout in MPO, FPO, 100+% rest
· AM: 48 Am player minimum, 100+% of entry fee payout in all divisions, $10 min. value
player package provided to all Am competitors as part of overall Am payout
· Exception for smaller states/provinces:
The following states/provinces may host their leading 2005 PDGA Tour event as a B tier at
60% of the requirements (PRO: $1000 Purse, $150 sponsor cash added; AM: 30 player
minimum). %s of entry fee payout and AM player package value remain per standard B tier
criteria. This exception applies to 1 event per state/province per year, and event must be
agreed to by the State Coordinator.

· $50 sanction fee
· $2 player fee
· $5 PDGA event fee required for all non-current, non-members, and non-developmental
members, except Juniors.
· $5 PDGA Developmental Membership available, valid for (3) months; must receive name,
valid address, phone number, email address and rights to sell/use information. PDGA
Developmental Membership will be issued soft membership card by TD. Dev. Member
Welcome Package will be issued by PDGA upon receipt of player information. Rights to
play in all PDGA C-tier and D-tier events. PDGA Developmental Membership nonrenewable
in same calendar year.

· Low entry fee(s)
· $2 player fee
· One-day event only
· no PDGA Membership required
· $5 PDGA Developmental Membership available, valid for (3) months. PDGA must receive
name, valid address, phone number, email address and rights to sell/use information.
Members will be issued Developmental Member card by TD. Dev. Member Welcome

Experimental Events X-Tier
· Created to encourage and accommodate alternate of experimental formats such as
doubles, team events, non-basket courses, single division events, winner-take-all, skins,
match play, vintage, and overall events.
· Agreements under all tiers except D-tier
· X Tier events are sanctioned as XA, XB, and XC in accordance with tier guidelines and
player points are awarded accordingly.
· Formats at B-tier and above limited to Doubles, Team, Match Play, other event formats will
be considered by Competition Director upon submission of request
· Regardless of the format used, results must be easily convertible to PDGA divisions for
player points calculation and data entry. For this reason divisional doubles (pro, advanced,
etc) and mixed doubles (male/female) cannot be combined within the same event and will
require seperate sanctioning agreements.
· All X-tier Events must be approved by PDGA Competition Director during their initial year
