     Hello all...

With leagues scheduled I've been able to schedule qualifiers for the east side; they are as follows:

April 17th City of fountains 3 spots

April 19th old pike league 6:00 pm (will be singles instead of double that night) 2 spots

April 25th Cliff drive league (i know it shows every other week.. trust me the 25th is a qualifier at cliff league or not) 2 spots

May 10th Wilbur young 6pm 2 spots

may 17th swope 6pm 1 spot

may 21st paradise diamond 3 spots

may 24th swope 1 spot

june 9th last qualifier Water works league 2 spots

These qualifiers add up to 16 spots, which I assume would be the "starters" on the east team.  Now that the Diva event will act as a qualifier for one woman, this puts us at 17 total qualifiers.  Which of the remaining qualifiers are going to lose a qualifying spot?

I wouldn't 'make the assumption that these will be the starters.  Just as you have more people on teams, doesn't mean the first person chosen is the starter.

There will be a total of 21 spots available, as such the order may change even during the set up from the captains.  To assume that these are the "starters" isn't accurate, nor has it been the "norm"  Playing people against people and strength of games from time to time is important.  Who is to think that a Captains pick isn't someone that they want in there immediately?

Captains decide the starting line ups, not the qualifiers.

It's certainly been the expectation of most people who "qualified" in the past that they have the option to play all three rounds if they're available.  That's why in previous years the rosters are commonly listed as qualifiers and alternates, which assumes that an alternate will be used if a qualifier is unavailable for some reason.  Otherwise, what are you qualifying for, the potential to participate?

There will be a total of 21 spots available, as such the order may change even during the set up from the captains.

Are you implying the entire 21 person roster should be present during the snake draft even if they may not play?  To my knowledge, the captains always have 16 names on their list and cross them off as the matchups are selected.

That has never been the case that all those that qualified were guaranteed a spot for all rounds.  Captains have always been able to use any member from the team, at times people have stated, I can only do round X for certain, but at no point are those people that qualify only the people available.  There were initially up to 20, that was amended by the captains this year.  The term "alternate" really isn't that, it is merely a bench, just as any sport.

read the rules for more clarification if that may help.  I think that I have seen in almost every year of the venue that not all 16 players that start are the same at the last match.  Specifically the Team Rosters section....

Jack is correct,  the concept of "starters" doesn't apply here.  The 16 players selected from the pool of available players (up to 21) for each team for a round comprise each team's squad for the current round.  None of those players can be substituted out, during the current competitive round, like in sports with a traditional "starting" line up.

That said, each captain is free to favor players that made the team via qualifiers over captains picks, or not, based on player availability, situational strategy, or whatever.

The Best side actually says that if you qualify for the West team then you WILL play at least 1 round. But when you are on the least side... You can always move?

To be fair, I can't think of anyone that qualified that didn't play a round that wasn't a health reason....on either side...with the Doss exception, and then they couldn't provide mailing address to support a KCFDC area resident requirement, the "best" side tried to ply....typical, they look to "Bend" rules.....get it?

15 men starting each round, 1 woman.
19-20 men available to play each round, 1-2 women. 21 max

Captains have choice of who plays when...that being said, I have always given my qualified players at least 2 of the 3 rounds, if not all 3. But when you are playing to WIN, options have to be available. Hence, we have captain's picks for good players that either couldn't make a qualifier, or had an off night on a qualifier night.

Hello all

qualifier at wilbur young league tonight... feel free to show up and make a spot on the team. I will not be there but Ryan Keck will be there to take note of who is vying for a spot and who is not. Please let him know.

I have removed one of the qualifiers at swope due to the addition of the spring feva and interest shown by the women to participate.

If you qualify for the event you will be guarenteed play in the event... may not be all 3 rounds but will be played.

cheers,

good luck

So can we get a clarification on what days are left for qualifiers on the East side?  I know there have been some rainouts, etc.  I'm already qualified, but need to fill in a long lost soul who is finally back in town of what is left...
