The 3rd Annual KCFDC Safari Saturday starts tomorrow, December 15!  This is a continuation of the PDGA Traveling league, and the ace fund from that league will be in play.  This is a 10 week league - there is no need to attend every week.  Instead, each week is a mini - attend 1 or all 10!  Each week, I will try to incorporate a safari hole or three, or have an extra hole or two.

Cost:  $5 for KCFDC members, $6 for non-members.  Add a buck for the ace fund.

53 out today for the first round of the Third Annual Safari Saturday! We managed to survive Rosedale Park. Thanks to Dean Gary, Rogues of Rosedale, Jay Rivard, Danny Knox and all the people out working at Rosedale today! It was a busy, busy course.
Next week, Waterworks Park. Maybe Joosey Kooj will want to come up with a safari hole or two for us to play as he exits his position as course coordinator at Waterworks. Kujo will be missed at Waterworks, but he's going to focus his attention at Bad Rock Creek.

Elisabeth Borg-Bowman and I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

As we head to the new year, please remember the PDGA rules have been updated, and they will be in force for the remainder of the Safari Saturday PDGA league!

Saturday, January 5th, Safari Saturday heads to Cliff Drive. A reminder - as of the 2018 KCWO, the hole numbers have changed at Cliff Drive. Though Drew D. Neitzel hates when I mention the old numbers - I will, one last time.
Layout:

1 (new 1) - short, par 3
2 (new 2) - only, par 3
3 (old 2) - short, par 3
4 (old 3) - only, par 3
5 (old 4) - nickel (not sure where nickel is), par 3
6 (old 5) - nickel (not sure where nickel is), par 3
7 (old 6) - nickel (right tunnel, I think), par 3
8 (old 7) - nickel (not sure where nickel is), par 3
9 (old 8) - swinging basket (per Joel Cates request), par 3
9A (old 8) - Temp to long, par 3
10 (old 9) - only, par 3
11 (old 18) - left by reservoir, par 4
11A (LDO hole) - temp on street to Blue basket (11 long), par 3
12 (old 11) - short, par 3
12A (LDO hole) - temp on street to red basket (12 long), par 3
12B (old 12 - not currently in permanent use) - only, OB on drive proceed to Drop Zone with 1 throw penalty. Trees right are OB (line will be painted). Any subsequent OB plays normal OB rules. par 3
13 (old 13) - old (short) pad to short, par 3
13A - old 15 pad left of 13 short to 13 long basket (red basket), par 3
14 (old 14) - long (old 15 long), mando RIGHT of tree, missed mando proceed to DZ with one throw penalty. par 4
15 to 16 (old 16 to old 17) - long on island, approximately 1350 feet, par 6. Usual OB rules apply (no island rule).
17 to 18 (old hole 10 to old hole 1) - long right, orange basket. Par 5
21 holes, par 70

Usual out of bounds apply - on or any roads, over any fence. Only hole 14 has a mandatory. Only hole 12B has a DZ for OB.

See you at Cliff Drive on January 5!

OK OK I am a total slacker. I admit it. Or I was just so entertained on my birthday weekend I didn't get this post up. That said, the PDGA site was updated when I was having lunch on Saturday. So there.

32 out to Cliff Drive for my birthday round, thanks for singing happy birthday! Thanks to Jack Lowe for cleaning up Cliff Drive and Drew D. Neitzel for all the work he does at Cliff and helping set up the course.

Cliff Drive was 21 holes, par 70, 8345 feet.

Oh and shout out to AJ Kroenlein for last week at Heritage - his 52 was 1017 prelim rated! We had our second 1000+ rated round of the league this week. Read on!

Today's Safari Saturday PDGA league is officially postponed until tomorrow, 1/20, at 10 AM.
It is not the snow, cold or wind that concerns me, but rather ice glazing roads.  #safetyfirst
It appears the roads in the south part of the metro are ok, but the roads north are dicey.

For those than make a Sunday round, sign up at 930, tee at 1000.  $5 for KCFDC members, $6 for non-members.  Add a buck for the ace fund.

Setup:  long or only to blue on holes 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17; short or only to gold on holes 3, 6, 12, 14, 16, 18.  The only gold we are skipping is 5.  OB: pounds, over fences.

Tomorrow's round at Wilbur Young (Saturday, February 16, 2019) is postponed.

I have one of two choices basically after a tumultuous eight weeks that has seen three postponements and a move to a Sunday (BRC).

Choice 1 : Call it good and end the league, foregoing Prairie Center and Wilbur Young.
Choice 2 : Postpone the league for two weeks - Frostbreaker is next weekend (February 23/24), and play the last two rounds on March 2/3.  The PDGA likely wouldn't approve of such shenanigans, but if I don't ask they can't tell me no...  and my reading of the rules says I can...  anyway, that's an aside.  March 2/3 is the very last weekend that we could have league rounds.

I am inclined to go with Choice 1 and call it good as we go to tournament season.  However, if you all want to play the last two rounds on March 2 and 3 - well you know, I'll be there for you.  🥰  Chime in here on what you the people want to do.

PS - I am taking over Tuesdays at Kessler Park officially this year.  I'm not sure how that happened.
