Mighty MO DATE CHANGE-Saturday May 10
« on: April 07, 2008, 10:09:21 AM »
5-10 Saturday, this will be a low maintenance event, with minimal entries:

Registration will be at Water Works from 8-9:15
1st round will be ~10 (you know me!)

Depending on entries will depend on 1st round.  if more than 90 players, all Pro Divisions will venture to Cliff Drive, all amateur divisions will stay at Water Works.

Entries will be as follows: (Ace fund will be optional $3 at day of event)

Entry Fees:

Open - $50
All other Pro divisions - $40
Advanced divisions - $30
Intermediate - $20
Recreational - $20
Novice - $20

(If you're not a current PDGA member, add the $10 single event fee to your registration.  If you plan on registering for the PDGA, or renewing, please arrive early!!)

I am not sure if we will have the tee-pads in at Cliff Drive by then, but will let you know as we move forward.  Online registration is encouraged and will be set up through the PDGA.com, upon getting the information set up, will post here.

Come on and play some great courses in KC, during the great spring time of the year!!

Thanks,

Jack

(Obviously contact me with any questions.)

Is there no pre-registration for this tournament?

Online registration is active.

Looking forward to this event.  I am not sure if all the pads will be done at Cliff Drive, but we will be working on them over the next few weeks.

Thanks,

Jack

Jack:

I'd rather not pay the $3.00 handling fee by registering at the PDGA website.  Can I send my registration directly to you?

I have never played in an event before, but would be interested in the Mighty Mo.  How long does a tournament take to play (I have a prior commitment at 2:00pm and am wondering if playing would even be feasible)?  Also, what is the difference between the Rec and Novice divisions in tournaments?

Two rounds of 18 with lunch in between pretty much takes all day. I'll defer the divisional question.

I doubt the 2nd round even begins before 2:00 p.m., on most PDGA events you allow 3-4 hours per round.

The awards for this event probably won't finish up till 5 or 6 Saturday evening.  If you have plans, come out in the morning and watch or walk with a group for a bit, nobody will mind.

Suggestion:  for the recreational, novice and intermediate, why not just have a round of 18 ... that way, it does not tie up you whole day and ne still can have some fun.  I would venture to say that
there would be a bigger turn out for this schedule than what is being offered...I would love to play, but cannot tie up a whole day.  Or maybe I am being selfish!!

tournaments that are sanctioned by the PDGA don't work that way.

besides, just because your division isn't advanced or open doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't play two rounds.  there are some pretty salty intermediate and rec players around that would be insulted at your suggestion to only play one round.
