I played the front 9 at BV this morning, and after my best drive ever on Hole #1, there was no basket to be found! Has this basket been removed, stolen, or moved to a placement I've never seen before?

Other side of the hill in the long placement?  I think it was there for Sunburn...

Well, it certainly wasn't at the short placement. My drive landed just beyond the "point" where the trees that run perpendicular to #10's fairway end. I fully expected to see the basket at the longer placement near the telephone pole when I reached my disc, but it wasn't there. Looking to the left, I could see #10's pad and #9's basket, but that was it. I believe there was two placements toward the south/southeast side of the playground, but neither had a basket.

Man, you've got me second-guessing myself now. I'm gonna feel like such a dumbass if that basket was there the whole time. :D

For the long placement, unless you throw the disc 600 ft, you're not going to see the basket.  Kinda like the rest of the long placements at BV...

I think the long pin I'm thinking of is past the long pin shown at playdg.com

it's over the hill, only 30 or 40 feet from the road.

Well, Hell... ???

Is there a chance that placement is not listed on the tee sign? I'm going to have to drive through there before work today as this is driving me crazy thinking about it!

The placement is listed on the tee sign. It is almost an 850 foot hole, though; so actually, you would probably have to throw the disc about 800 feet on your drive in order to see the pin, with the way it is positioned over the ridge.

Has no one played on this course since he posted this thread?

I too will drive by then and look, it makes me wonder......it also makes me wonder how many people play out there......

Jack, if it's where these guys are saying it is, I probably just missed it. I played BV for the first time not quite 2 years ago, so it's possible that the pin is in a placement I haven't seen yet.

As far as how many people play there, it's a rarity that I see any other disc golfers playing when I'm there. Of course, there is the fact that I tend to play during low-traffic times of the day when most normal people are at work. ;D

Anyway, I will take a drive through there on my way to work to double check, and will post back to alleviate any concerns. I sure hate to have caused any false alarm here.

:)

Its all relative, there are thugs in all parts of the land, including our own little disc golf community.

Park lands in KCMO, Olather, Gardner OK, are just as likely to have issues as anywhere else.....

I think that it is an issue of is the course truly the best use out there, and in fact will do something different for the City of Fountains tournament this year to prove it.

Park land in Gardner???  Where is this again??

I guess if you consider the Johnson County Fair Grounds as Park land then we may have one park.

Speaking of the fair it starts on Monday, but the Goat Milking Demonstration's only run from Wed to Sat!!  :o

The basket has been found!!!

It was located in the Far West, a once proud nation has yet again been restored to its rightful honor by being a complete course!

The message was phoned in with much exuberence and excitement

Yes, yes, the basket is safe and sound. Never in a million years would I have thought there was a placement there. By the way, that is no long placement, that is an ultra-insane, uber-ridiculously long placement! :D
