I just signed up for this forum and I can't seem to get my avatar to upload??

Does it take a while to show up or am I doing something wrong?  I made sure it was only 6kb, but it still doesn't work.  :x

It has to be no larger than 80 pixel by 80 pixel also.  If it's larger than that it will not load.

Let me know if you need it resized.

The profile page doesn't let me upload anything larger than 40x40 and 6 kb.  So how did you get a 262x339 pixel avatar on here?  Is it hosted by another url?

40x40 is about the size of a smiley.

The max size is currently set at 80x80 and it would be nice if people would respect it rather than bypassing by linking to huge avatars.  The problem being that not everyone has 19" monitors running at 1280x1024. For those running at 800x600 those huge avatars take up a third of the screen leaving little room for the TEXT, which is the reason this forum exists.  Then there are the load times for dial-up users for 80k files...

Is that better....

I can take it completely off so we don't encourage people to be unique and creative.

Just let me know...because I'm here to try and make everyone else happy.

This is a forum for communicating with words about discgolf, not a gallery for aspiring graphic artists.  I think a person can have a unique creative avatar in 80x80, think of it as a challenge.

Andy, you have to be considerate of people who don't have broadband and big, hi-res monitors.  I would not like having to wait for someone's avatar to load on my slow dial-up just so I can read about discgolf and I shouldn't have to upgrade my service/equipment just to accommodate someone's desire to be artistic on a discgolf discussion site.

Your original image was 80k and almost 300px wide, no big deal on my big monitor with a fast, cable modem, but when I check the site on my dad's 14inch monitor @ 800x600 with dialup your "unique and creative" avatar takes up HALF the screen and takes several seconds to load.  This is the reason the software has max dimensions.

Happy yet???

 :(

It would have been nice if you could have just asked me to make it smaller rather then calling me disrespectful, unconsiderate and "an aspiring graphic artist."

You say the limit is 80x80, but on the profile page it shows 40x40 as the limit and trying to load anything larger causes it to display:

"The avatar must be less than 40 pixels wide and 40 pixels high"

So for now I have a 40x30 avatar.

Sorry about that, during one of the updates it returned to the default 40x40.
I have set it to 100x100 max.
