kc star pic
« on: March 09, 2009, 10:58:15 AM »
I was informed that on the front of the local section of the kc star is a pic of Bret playing in Beer league on Sunday.   no story attached, probably better that way if he hung out with them for very long.

Dave, I tried in vain to find this picture on the KC Star site.  Got a link?

No wonder The Star keeps laying people off, the website bites hard! Or does it bite BECAUSE they keep laying people off?  It can't be that they are laying people off becasue people use the web to go their site for news!

"With colder temperatures moving across the area on Sunday, Bret Long, of Kansas City, Mo., spent a breezy Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2009, at the Swope Park Disc Golf Course. Long kept his eye on the pin as he attempts to shoot for par on the disc golf hole. STARSHOT0308"

Nice!

How cool would it be to have all the public media KC disc golf has had over the years in one spot on the forum?  I think I watched that video of the 79' championships 3 or 4 times now...catch different things every time.  I would like to see KC Ice Bowl coverage from the 80's, so we could make fun of the old guys...or excuse me MASTERS!

Here's me being a dad....wouldn't our(my) kid love seeing us(me) on/in the media, when they(he) is my(your) age?

I also had someone contact me about pictures for this years Ice Bowl...community faces had those up for a month or so, but I can't find them now....they still have 2008 Ice Bowl up.

Can the club purchase these pics from the photographer?

and YES, I am volunteering...with approval!

BTW - good to play with you yesterday, keep that up and you'll be playing in the Worlds, not taking pictures!

I have a couple of hardcopies I'll bring out for Bret on Sunday in case he didn't get one.

by the looks of his eyes, I'd say they were still on the front nine.

Why did they crop the bottom 3/4 of the pic?  That would have been even better were it a full blown shot the size of the others on the page...  Still pretty cool publicity...

It's probably not cropped, the Star uses panoramic shots on the front of the Local section all the time that capture random happenings around the metro area. There's almost never an article on the pictures themselves, just brief descriptions.

Hmmm. This comment makes me proud of those guys. Way to go Beer League. You have status. BTW. What's the latest throw down fight at beer league that I've been missing? Nate's still in the hoosegow?

yup, Nate's still out of service till early june.  It must be summer cuz Dunbar showed up last week.  Bob and Gunslinger are still out of action.   no good throwdowns, but the days are heating up and Tuesdays have started so it shouldn't be long now.

I've waited to post here until now about this pic....
It was the second round of the day. BTW.  Chris Oberholtz
showed up on hole 2 and asked us if it was ok to follow
us etc.  He hung out for about 4 holes.  After he was done
and had taken down some names, I let him know about
the tourney at WYCO. Guess it was too cold to go there for him.
