Legacy League - 4/10/09
« on: April 10, 2009, 07:55:26 PM »
Only 3 golfers out tonight so we scrapped the official league and just played for tags.  The course was a little sloppy, but the weather was gorgeous!

Drew Neitzel - 52
Brian Palmer - 60
Matt Hays - 62

A league needs to have at least 3 people, just like a division.......

That's why they only played for tags.

That's what I'm a'thinkin.  Needed three, three showed up...count'em 1, 2, 3...ah ah ah ah ah ah...so enough to play league, right Jack?  So um, why bag tags?... ;)

I see two different divisions represented. Drew is and open player and Brian and Matt play am. I can understand why they didn't want to simply donate to Drew under the circumstances. Although, I used to do that all the time at WyCo to Cecil and Rick M. They would take turns taking my money in the early days of league out there.   :D

Actually, Rick says there has to be 6 people to hold league.  His institutional memory is better than mine (and he's lived in KC 8 years longer than I have).  I know we've counted some days at Cliff Drive as league where we only only had 4 or 5 people. I think probably we could count it as a league if we had four and the league director was in the group. If the league director is dishonest, we need a new league director. That's something we could talk about at an EC meeting.

I don't think I've ever heard six as the magic number. I've always assumed that a single card of three is all that was required to make it official. It sounds like some official clarification is in order. Starting with the rational for the number six. Why not four, five or even seven for that matter?

Is this a 5:30 start or 6 for this Friday?

It was 6 when I moved here in 1992, and I'm not certain of its origins. It might have had something to do that it would be harder to find 6 guys to lie about hitting a big ace pool. But I'm sure there aren't 3 people who would conspire to steal an ace fund now.
