CLUB Championships-picnic

Is there a club championship and picnic this fall?

I had an idea for a format that I would like to throw out....

Since we have the best club in the country, why not have a club championship week?
Round 1 would be at Olathe League on Monday.
Round 2 would be at Swope League on Tuesday.
Round 3 would be at Rosedale League on Wednesday.
Round 4 would be at Waterworks League on Thursday.
Round 5 would be at Wyco League on Friday.
The final round and picnic would be at Cliff Drive on Sunday.

I know a lot of folks couldn't or wouldn't want to play every league night, but I think this format would make for a great week of play, leading up to the final round and picnic/party.

Scoring would be tough, maybe take the average of all the rounds that were played for a final score??

Either way I like the idea of a championship week.

Kinda short notice and some of us are planning on going to Winfield for the Frizz.

Sorry for the short notice. As for the Friz, that's why we are having the picnic and elections the following week. We know lots of folks will be going there. Hard to squeeze it all in. Come out then for the picnic though. Yes, bring your wife, kids, girlfriend, boyfriend! Just bring a side dish to make sure everyone is covered for eats. Should be a good time, doubles in the afternoon or something.

Reports....

About 40 people came out off and on over the weekend to play on one of the four courses used during the club champoinships. I even got to play most of a round with Max Hilgers on Sunday afternoon. However, only 17 people played all four rounds. That doesn't mean the disc golf among those in these pools was any less competitive though. For instance, in C pool in which I played, there were only three of us but the final round was quite competitive. Daniel Truax went in with a five stroke lead over Steve Harris and Steve came within one stroke of catching him. As for the D pool, Angela was the only competitor left after Saturday's two rounds but it doesn't mean she didn't win. She had enough of a lead over the others in her pool that she was well on her way to victory had the others been there Sunday or not (I think she scared them off). And a couple of them did return for the final round Sunday afternoon and she did indeed prevail in that round as well.

Ruminations...

I can't help but think we would have had a better turnout if we hadn't gone up against the OctoberFriz weekend and had stuck with a three rounds and then the picnic format as we have in recent years. We tried four rounds and a separate picnic this year and may not do it again next. Let's just hope the turnout for this weekend's picnic and elections is better than the turnout for the club championships.

Runs-at-aces....

As poorly as I played all weekend I finally started getting my game together during the last round. I don't know about others but the guys on my card can attest to the fact that I Buzzzzed the basket on #9 at Rosie on the very last hole of the event. Man, that would have sure made up for the lousy rounds the rest of the weekend. Oh well... there's always next year.

schweet info jackman and kev, you guys got a really good club thang goin on, good luck on the format and scheduling- I can see how 4 rounds could be tough for some but at the same time y'all got so many choices you wanna play 'em all... nice problem to have
were the pools decided by ratings?

Did pete get an invite from his wide open finish? Seems like their pretty stingy with givin those out.... that'd be a fun one to play someday

edit: just guessing pete got the state rep spot? which will be my backdoor into that thing when we move back to montana.....
