Discgolf in Budapest

Hey KC golfers!
I am super happy to report there is permanent DG in Hungary now. Actually the sport is growing like mad in Central Europe. the last time I was here there was only one temp course on an island in the Danube. Now they have a club, tourneys, they are on the Austro Hungarian tour and it seems to be taking off 
I don't recommend coming here in the winter but a summer trip and you would not be disaappointed. There is a lot more to do than just golf, but hey we have to play golf too, right?

Check it out. It is the beginnings of the sport in Eastern Europe, gotta love it!

I wondered the same thing, so I looked. There are a few courses in the region but none in Amsterdam (at least according to PDGA.com).

I've really been wanting to go see Europe.

Probably no golf in Amsterdam proper. The city is very small, but Harlem or Rotterdam are better bets. The PDGA website is only so reliable. Only one of the three courses in hungary is listed there, so take it for what it is worth. I'll send a report on the 30th. I am planning to play one of the new courses then.
And hey Merry Christmas to KC disc golfers, you guys make it unbelievably good.

I would really love to see that.  People have begun to see my discs in my back seat and ask me if I play; something is drawing attention to DG, and I have seen a great popularity jump among my friends in other cities.  I too think it wont be too long.

Nice. I must say though, when I was in Europe, disc golf was the last thing on my mind.

We played the British Open in 2006 and in 2010 it's back at Whitcomb over 4th of July weekend.
Awesome course, you won't be disappointed!

I had posted something about golf in other countries yesterday so I thought I would share some pics of some pretty good home made baskets in Hungary. I played 9 holes in December at one of the few permanent courses. Always great to see more disc golf. I am hoping to go back in August and play the other courses as I did four years ago.
The local cost of these baskets is low by our standards, but on the local economy they aren't cheap even for local fabrication. Pretty cool regardless.
