Prostate Cancer Doubles - May 8th
« on: January 11, 2010, 12:26:36 PM »
For the past two years we have run this tournament so everyone signs up and we create flights based on total score, like a ball golf scramble.  I thought I'd ask what people thought about having teams sign up for a division first?

The entry fee has been $35 per player and if we don't make any changes, we will not be increasing the price. If we were to make the change, we MIGHT change to:
Open: $40-$45?
Ams: $35
Int/Rec: $25 or $30

This is a find raiser so I'm not saying there would be addititional cash paid out, last year the overall winners received $100 each.  Also, we would still include a disc, mini, lunch, keg of beer, games (CTP, Ring of Fire, etc)

Aside from the poll, if you have other comments, suggestions etc. send then my way (davidemerson at flhw dot org)

You could just have one division. The teams could be pick your partner doubles, but have a ratings cap of say 1900. A team could have one 1000 rated player and one 900 rated player, or a team could have two 950 rated players.... the Tulsa club has an event like that each year, but it's either a three man team or a four man team.

that's a neat idea and it would work, but there are too many players with no rating.

Singles!  Unless you are filling the field already with your current format.

flight after the first round

Flight after the first round, but have a shootout rule. If you would've had finished in the top 4 places in the flight above you, then you "shoot out" of your flight and are not eligible for prizes.  This is to prevent sandbagging in the first round.
Missouri....our state animal is sterile, our state rock is lead, and we elected a dead guy to the U.S. Senate.  Of course, he was the best candidate.

Good addition.  I like that rule.

And Shoenhopper... Get some friends... Look at me, NO ONE likes me and I can still find a partner.  Even if it is my girlfriend!  Which is why I like the dubs,  it is our 1 tournament we can play together.

For all that dont know me and played in years past. I was the TD that started this event with david.

Knowing that this event is for charity, what would you like to keep and what could go away?

I'll call out a few,
-lunch
-CTP for a basket
-longest drive for a mini basket
etc?

Any ideas on things to add to the even that may make it more appealing and fun?

I like flight after the first round that way we kind of know who we are competing against. I think that is a great idea.

I loved lunch (and keg) and ctp last year and its always fun having the certain hole competitions. Longest putt, drive, etc.. And as always, the more prizes, the better. :)
Since we are playing at Thornfield maybe you could add a new prize category - Kill a Snake Win a Prize!  ;D
Whatever you do, I'll be there.

It kept me from getting a disc back! I threw it near a little pond thing and saw the snake.  :o I wasn't so interested in getting the disc back then.
