Great job to everybody who put this thing on, especially Rick and Rusco.

Best story of the weekend:  Amanda Jackson, not having an Advanced Women's field to play with, decided to enter Rec Men.  She shoots a 252 for all 4 rounds wins both her cards at Waterworks and Swope (where she shot a stellar 62, the 3rd lowest score in her pool) to finish in 4th.

Best story of the weekend:

IF THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH LOOKS TOO LONG, SKIP TO THE SUMMARY BELOW!!!

That might be the best, but here is the most funny:  I think it is appropriate to nickname this year's tourney the 2010 "Humble Crumble".  Story goes as follows: Matthew "Humble" Hummel was tied for 4th place going into the final card in the advanced men's field at Rosie on Sunday.  Let's just say that little Matty made some "poor decisions", which led to him DNF'ing the tourney after he had completed 61 of 72 holes.  After beginning the round with a 9 on hole #3.......pause.....reread......a 9 on hole #3 you read it correctly, Matt continues the round, shooting reportedly decent golf.  Finishes the island, steps up to hole #9 long over the fence, parks his drive within 20 feet of the basket, walks to disc, picks it up, walks straight to the shelter, tells K-Mont he is DNF/ing, and then drove away into the sunset.  He was guaranteed at least $45-50 but more likely $60-70 in merchandise if he finished the round.  He also ridiculed Craig Loonis and I mercilessly for DNF'ing last year.  Way to choke on your own cocky words, Humble.

SUMMARY

THIS YEAR AT THE KC WIDE OPEN, EVERYONE BEAT HUMMEL!!!

Best story of the weekend.

Here's an answer to Spencer's post as to how one should handle a bad hole.

I head out towards #8 to watch the lead cards play the island hole and come upon a backup. It seems Slim Belcher tried to do the Epic thumber over the fence (yes the same route Hummel crushed successfully) and landed OB. He then re-teed and tried something else that was unsuccessful and re-teed a third time to try his thumber unsuccessfully once again. Now shooting his seventh throw from 40' in front of the pad (where his thumber left in-bounds never to return) he takes the conventional route and goes a little long. He finally carded an 11. Strange thing is, he never lost his cool and he proceeded to finish the round with nothing but pars and birdies and turned in a 62. If he would have taken the conventional route to begin with he would have likely turned in a 55 for the second hottest round of the afternoon. But he still cashed and took home some plastic! Now that's how you handle a bad hole. You could see the disappointment on his face when his risky moves didn't pay off but he never let any anger show. Cool.... 8)   and mighty entertaining to watch.

Best story of the weekend:

But I think my favorite has to be seeing Nick Altieri card a circle 3 on #8. Now that's something you don't see every day.

When i took my 9 on #14 at Swope i put my head under the water spigot by #16's pad for about 45 seconds, it cooled me down physically and brought me back from my self-pity and frustration as well-i recommend it sometime! (especially when it is 93 degrees)
