Getting Ready for KAN-U-WYCO?

Me and a friend or two are going to start preparing for the Kan-u-Wyco in the coming weeks.  I have only played out there once (it was last fall and I played league on Tracy the CC's card) but I got some good advice on the in's and out's (literally and figuratively).  Wondering if on Tuesday morning (the 2nd) anyone wants to play around 11:00am. 5 days in the 40's should have that course snow and ice free by the weekend.  There may be some spots of ice on Tuesday, but the weather should be clearing that up ASAP.

Dick is going to be adding extra OB on several holes for the tournament.

From what I gather from him:

#9 OB left and right of the tree lines on each side of the fairway.
#10 OB right of the tree line
#11 Mando to the left of the 2nd tree from the tee (and OB on the left side of the fairway?)
#13  Long position will have an Island green in addition the OB from last years layout
#17 OB right (same line from #9)
 

Yes for all those who are getting ready for this tournament.  Here is what you need to know about the OB.

First off, if we have snow then there will be no additional OB. 

Planning on that NOT being the case here is your new OB list

Hole #4 will have a MANDO LEFT of first tree!  No more hokie over the top hyzer.  Tho the ANI remains. 
Hole #9.  The 2 tree lines on each side of the fairway once you get through the first gap will be OB on both sides.  You must remain in the middle. 

Hole #7 LONG will have the SAME LINE FROM #9 behind the basket. BE AWARE OF THIS ONE!!!

Hole #17 will also have the OTHER LINE FROM #9 as an OB marker for the right side of the fairway.

Hole #10 will have an OB line on the RIGHT side to compliment the left ROAD OB. This basket will remain short both rounds. There will be OB long of this basket.

Hole #11 OB LEFT SIDE and MANDO LEFT of 2nd tree. THE ONLY reason for this mando is to protect the players on hole #12 (which on a side note will be LEFT both rounds.

Hole #13 will have a new "ISLAND" for the LONG PIN ONLY.  First round will be SHORT with OB BEHIND the basket.  You will get at LEAST 30 of landing area on no less than 3 sides of the basket. South East and West.   This will give you an opportunity to see the island hole before you play it. 

As far as the LAYOUT for Round 1:

1: short middle
2: Long Temp
3: Left
4: short right
5: short
6: short
7: Long
8:
9: short
10: short
11: short
12: left
13: short
14: short
15:
16: Right
17: Long
18: short

Round 2 Changes:

1: Long Right
2: Short
7: Short Right
9: Left
11: Long
13: Long ISLAND hole
14: Temp Location over Pond on DAM



Hope this answers questions for everyone.  Other than HOLE 4 I will have the entire course set for round 1 by this weekend I hope.  I will have the course set up entirely in time for DUBS.  We WILL play the new island hole for DUBS though.

Jack gets around this by using multiple courses in his events.

extra OB stops people from just throwing as hard as they can on each and every hole and makes them throw... wait for it... golf shots. there is a reason that the USDGC is such a challenging a prestigious event.

and for the people who think it is unfair to play a different course than you are used to:
1. Dick posted this very early so get out and practice it
2. Isn't that what the doubles round on saturday is for?

I'm a fan of accuracy over distance, since my throws are occasionally accurate, but never that long.
