Keen-WOW
« on: March 17, 2010, 09:45:59 AM »
Ok,

So I got a pair of keens, and didn't get the disc golf shoe.  Well, I had a blowout on them on Sunday at the I-Kan't-WyCo, and I sent them a note asking about this issue.

I sent an e-mail expecting the same service levels that we have grown accustomed to, and much to my surprise I got a response from them within 4 minutes of my initial request for information.

I was followed up with more information about how to go about conducting a return, and had my answers to all my questions within an hour of my initial conversation/request (4 e-mails).

As a person that is in customer service this is what I look for, acknowledgement, and a solution.

As a company that has made the disc golf shoe-Milo- http://www.keenfootwear.com/search.aspx?q=milo I can only say that I for one will now be buying these shoes based on the knowledge and the service levels that I received.

It was a great experience, and their attention to the customer in this instance has probably just foud them a customer for life.

As an old shoe dog (I managed shoe stores for about 5 years), This is the level of service that I gave, and that I expect, I am completely satisfied to yell in the forum about how good the service is, and give it a solid two thumbs up!

Jack, what shoe is it that you got that you had the blowout in? I have been looking at their various models. I'm not sure I like the look of the Milo, so I was considering just looking at their other waterproof shoes.

I bought a pair of Keen casual leather dress shoes in December and have worn nothing but them to work since then. I can't say enough about how comfortable they are and how they match my lifestyle perfectly. I have several other shoes for golf that I have just been waiting to wear out so I can justify replacing them with Keen shoes. Your customer service testimonial just sped up my replacement cycle.

http://www.keenfootwear.com/search.aspx?q=Obsidian

AND I LOVE IT!

But they did indicate that the issue I had is not common, but has happened.  I think that its the torque I put on it when I twist my right foot.  I got a small tear by the pinky toe on the right foot.

I really was digging the shoe, as I also felt that the Milo was a little bit heavier than what I wanted.  I saw Nate Doss wearing these, and looked at them, as they were a little more aligned with what I wanted, and got them instead.

I may try to use these only for disc golf to see if that is an issue, and if it blows out again, then I will switch to Milo.

Outside of this tear (which coincidentally it didn't leak into the shoe even with the tear), these have been very comfortable, gripped well in all conditions, and have high praise for me on a shoe for disc golf, which I have been seriously looking for for years, (at least 10).

The perfect shoe for me and disc golf does not exist.  I want this waterproof top 3/4, and a skateboard sole, with lugnuts sole on the outer rim, and I want it all to weigh in under 16oz.

This was about as close to that as I have found.

The Milo looks and feels a lot heavier in my hand, but it may handle the demands that we place on our feet better, and it's probably in the 20oz range.  I will give it a shot, mainly because of my interaction yesterday.

I PREFER THE VOYAGEUR'S....HIGH AND LOW TOP...AND HAVE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW....

I'VE HEARD ISSUES WITH THE MILOS PINCHING THE TOP OF YOUR FOOT BECAUSE THE TONGUE DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM DUE TO THE LACING SYSTEM.

YA...KEENS ROCK THOUGH....DEFINATELY WORTH THE MONEY....I GO THROUGH 1 TO 2 PAIRS A YEAR DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH PLAY TIME I GET IN.

Cool, I will probably pick up a pair of Keens after browsing the site.

My company had a meeting the other week where our owner used zappos.com, another online shoe sales site, as an example of a customer service driven culture. Kudos to the companies who take the extra step to help their clients.

I've always had good luck with Timberland boots, so when I saw they had a waterproof athletic shoe, I jumped on them. They are comfortable, but the stitching started coming apart after just a couple weeks. I purchased a warranty on them at time of purchase but now the warranty company is giving me the run-arounds. Dicks Sporting Goods and Timberland have both lost a customer for life if the emails I've sent them don't lead to a fair resolution of some sort. >:(

Jack, where in town do they sell these Keen shoes?

Ditto on the Timberland boots. I have two pair that still serve me well. But the waterproof low-top hiking shoes I bought didn't last nearly as long. Although I didn't have as bad a luck as you. I bought my Keens at Vincent's in Sedalia and the shoe store in Leavenworth at K7 and Eisenhower advertises them in their window. I would think they would be pretty easy to find by now but those two are all I can say for sure.

Shoebuy.com currently has a 20% discount...they carry Keens.  I've bought several pairs of shoes from them, I've had a few issues like Jack's and have had no hassle returns w/Shoebuy.  I primarily wear Merrells but the Keens look interesting....might try them.

I still don't like the idea of buying shoes online because you can't try them on first.;D

I've never bought shoes online either. Keen's website has a store finder feature. I put in KCMO and this is the list of stores I got:

We suggest calling your local retailer before heading to the store, to make sure they have the KEEN item you're looking for in stock.
