Lots of wind,1,2,3,4, were long.we played long pads with obs and mandos.

#1 Long (ob, trees, and headwind), #3 Long (headwind), #4 long (probably not with a tailwind), #6 long (headwind), then #13-#14 from the longs into a headwind (#13 normally doesn't have that much wind, even though it comes out of the south).  Aside from that, there were a lot of casual players on the course, which (at least for us) wasn't exactly a distraction free round.  Leo had a disc land about 3 feet from him, and I got knocked down by an errant tee shot.  Again, these are all just guesses.

In no wind, the course we played would between a 50 and 51 SSA.  So 2-3 strokes from a steady 20mph with gusts up to 30 isn't that surprising, considering a lot of the harder holes were playing into the wind.

That, of course, would be me.  I like SSA on a course between 52 and 53.

Also, I needed to recalculate the round ratings because of incorrectly assigned rounds.  The SSA is now 52.98 (pretty much exactly where I want it).

Justin K actually DEUCED 13 long tee to middle basket  :o He blasted a ROC to about 70' and dropped in the putt with those long arms of his  >:(

Then to prove that wasn't a fluke he tossed his drive ACROSS the road on #3 long and hit the cage on the putt  ::)

Sort of. I've never like Swope in all shorts, and it's actually shorter than I'd like. I'll shorten it up for spring renewal the 2nd round and the CC, but expect it to have some teeth come wide open time.

Probably not in the traditional sense, but

1.)  There will be some lined OB
2.) We will play tee 3 to basket 4 with all that OB on the left
3.)  I think I'm going to remove holes #7 and #8 and put them somewhere else.  The exact details still need to be ironed out, but I want an SSA around 56.

you mean 4 tee to 5 basket?

You will then want to play to the long over the gravel.

Come across the gravel (you will need to change the tee area from years past to allow for a better shot selection)

Play back to the P&R building, then pick up 6 as hole #8, go to #9 and carry on......

Sorry, you're correct Jack.  Hole #4 to #5.  There are some other things I've got in mind too, but I need to get those set in my head (and with Rick) before making them public.

Lake Gravel is now being covered in dirt, they appear to be halfway through, stalled out in the winter.
I suspect they are getting it ready for Starlight/Zoo parking overflow. Just a guess.
