Dans Dog Salomon

Dan Cashen's oldest dog Salomon has died today. If any one has played Swope Park or Blue Vally disc golf courses in the past 14 + years you have seen the dog out with Dan. This dog and getting him out to run the park has given Dan the opportunity to work at Swope and Blue Valley for countless hours and untold monies spent out of pocket that we will never know the final total. Salomon is just as responsible as a volunteer helping Dan at the course and keeping him going. When you work at the courses and your by yourself with your Dog you don't mind staying and finishing up what you started that day. And when your following the dog through the Park you come up with Ideas for the course or the new holes that lay in the brush. The dogs are like family to those of us that don't have children and you lose one to old age it hurts as you all know.
So next time you see Dan or Colleen remember their dog.

Thanks for the note Pete    I've only dealt with one old dog since being on my own. Our pets are truly an extension of our family, and the loss is just as tough

The first time I met Salomon Dan was at Swope and I asked about his dogs. He just said "Those knuckleheads? Yeah, they're mine." The way he said it told me they were like his kids and he was very proud of them. They were well behaved, fun and handsome animals. My condolences to Dan and Colleen. I know how it feels to lose a pet. They can truly be a part of the family that will be missed terribly.

Dan and his dogs did teach me one important thing AFTER they scared the bejeezus outa me from inside their kennel on the truck 

When greeting a dog NEVER give them your fingers! Make a fist and let the dog check you out. I pass this on to all the neighborhood kids that want to pet Hero while we walk. Hero's not the rowdy type but a gaggle of kids can quickly overwhelm any dog

Was Salomon a Weimeraner?  I remember seeing Dan at Swope with some big dogs, running the course.  Nothing like seeing a dog running around with a big old smile on there face.

Sorry to hear about Dan's loss, especially with it being not too long after he lost the other dog. Will Salomon be laid to rest at Swope along with the other one?

I know that each time I saw Dan out on sunday at swope those beautiful dogs were with him. Anyone who has seen how great dogs act in the parks knows what I mean. ( I take my friend's dog Jake out all the time.) Well salomon always
came up to sniff Jake and mark over the trees that he had just visited.
I am sure he was well loved.

Not paying attention.
and, Oh yeah, where the hell did these other dogs come from?
I am in my own dimension.
I love my Dan.
He misses me.
