Camping/Golfing at Smithville... Recommendations??

Howdy all,

A group of us are planning on camping at Smithville this weekend, rain withstanding.  And I had a couple questions I was hoping someone may be able to help me with. 

First, we'd like a campsite close to the disc golf course.  But we'd strongly prefer one that has electrical hookups.  We'll just be in tents, but electrical hookups have been requested.  I'm not sure if that's possible, but if so what's the best location?  Any ideas on price? 

I've looked on the Smithville Lake website, and it's not very helpful with regards to this.  Hopefully someone here will have an idea.

There is currently not a disc golf course on site, there are temp baskets that show up for "those in the KNOW", but a course is not there for you to play on as of yet....

There is a little 9 hole course a few miles from there but I don't know if it is worth camping.

The forecast is improving for the weekend, so it looks like we'll be camping and chucking some plastic. 

I'll hopefully give you a call on Saturday for the sneak peek of the new complex.  Sounds very cool.

To get to the Camp Branch starter course/killer camp ground area, see below-

To get there, take 169 N to W Hwy. Left (east) on W to Collins (Collins will be on the other side of Paradise) Stay on Collins until you come to the Camp Branch entrance. Enter and go to the shower house. (top of hill-Park there.) Look for the first basket behind the shower house (left and about 75 yards away)...this will be #9. Throw from #9 basket to #1 basket. Then just go from there. The first couple are out in the open but then starts getting kinda technical from there. (NO t-boxes so it needs to played from basket to basket.)

We had a blast but remember it is very small. This has been put in as a little test if you will...to guage the initial response. (and look where we are now!)

We played 3 rounds of 9 and had several birdies and a couple of near misses for aces. (forward-backward-forward)

I was skeptical of the home made baskets but they work and catch really well. Clever idea who ever came up with this design...I might copy these for the remaining baskets at the farm course.

I am trying to plot the course now on Google Earth...stand by for more info. (Camp Brance entrance is  39°24'41.24"N,  94°31'0.78"W)

Maybe this next winter, when it freezes, you can walk out there and fish for it!

Not a true statement sir...we do have the little but fun to play 9 hole on the Camp Branch side of the Lake.

if you want to camp and play 18 holes you can always go to P hill.  it is of course completely south of Smithville. 

Just a thought if you were really wanting to play 18 holes of disc golf .  I believe they have electricity out there as well.  You set up camp  on the edges of the fairways so proximity is not an issue.
