He also had low round in the division and moved up to 5th place!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that a 1002 and 1016 rated player probably shouldn't be playing in what is known as an Am competition?   I think David Wiggins is a cool kid.  I had the opportunity to talk with him and his family.  I know he is just a kid.  But come on.   1002?  1016?   Other than the age what is am about them?

I love our sport.

In all seriousness, what's the reason he hasn't moved up? Like, NCAA eligibility or something? I remember seeing a reason, I just don't remember what that reason is.

I watched an interview with him on the PDGA website last week-i believe it was a post-Charlotte Am tourney interview.  He talks about wanting to get this AM1 World Title and that it is the last AM event he is ever going to play.  I think he just wants that last jewel on his AM crown before he starts getting worked by the big boys.  If for any reason at all I recommend watching the interview just so you can laugh at how extremely awkward and nervous the kid is on camera-his ability to speak the English language is still definitely at the amateur level.

Not to mention, he's on a higher Innova team than I am... and all he's done is beat a buncha am's...

what a slap in the face, ay?

He is a teenager, can you let him enjoy his childhood before we bash him?

Tank, you are just to darn lovable to hate, so Innova wants to keep you grounded, you know so your nose doesnt scrape the ceiling when you walk in somewhere..... ;D

I don't think that it should be a problem for him to desire the ultimate reward as an am before he goes up.  He didnt do it here last year, so hopefully this year he can get that take care of.  He was highly rated here last year as well.

At what point should a child be subjected to the tools that make up some of our pro division?

I remember steadfastly an older AM (like 30+) guy ridiculing a very young player (like 17 and sponsored) for playing as an am and being sponsored.  The kid did not handle it well, and I wanted to reprimand the adult for treating our youth so badly....Karma came back and the guy was 7 holes late the next morning......I just gave him a ride to where his card was, let him aff and said, aint Karma a b%tch..... ;D

So lets let kids enjoy the game, lets let them bask in the area that they want before we rush them to play in a division that is clearly not as much fun to play, and mentally much more challenging, and people-wise much harder to contend with.

Our sport is loving to a point, but at the pro level there is a major difference between the divisions, you pro players (or in many cases wannabe pros) know where I am coming from.  Its a tough mental aspect to win, and at a young age that is even harder to contend with....

I know he doesn't have TOO, but he seems like the competitive sort that would want to take on the challenge. Which it looks like he will be after worlds, judging by his interview.

The spelling police will be here soon for you Doug.

Their lesson for you is the difference between to, too and two.

Because he doesn't have two...  ;D ;D ;D

Where does it say he has two?  No Where!!!

He doesn't have two what? You're getting kinda personal there aren't you Doug?

No? Where? Nowhere, that's where.

What about the 1016 player?  another kid?  I don't think I bashed on anyone I just want to know why 1000+ rated players are allowed to play at an AM level.  I understand he is a kid but so are these other guys trying to play against other am.  Not child Pros.

I really don't care what the rules are right now.  I'm saying what I think they should be.   Opinion only.

Think about it this way.  One of the qualifications to be considered a PDGA Touring Pro...  Is to be 1000 rated.
