Yeah, I thought the divisions were ratings protected or something. Like, 970. But I guess there's some exception. They should do away with that exception if you maintain a certain rating for a certain period of time. At the very least, you're right, 1000 rated is a bit high. Maybe 985 or something.

You have to play Advanced if you are 935 or higher, 970+ is the "suggested" rating for pro's, but not a mandatory limit on either....hence why this 920 rated player has lpayed pro and am world championships....

Wow... I never realized that MA1 is a division not protected in any way. Unless you've accepted cash, of course.

Seems silly.

Pete had a rough 5th round and is tied for 14th. Let's hope round 6 was better for his and he makes the semis!

Thats not even true...
http://www.pdga.com/rules/2-4-pros-playing-am

Pros with a 969 rating can play Am...

Now once you accept cash at a PDGA event you have to turn pro....I have yet to do so, but I can play as a pro.  I came close in Japan though.....real freaking close...closer than I thought I would....

The discussion about DW Jr reminds me of a certain ball golfer about 12 years ago. After tearing up the Am events year after year, then doing much of the same whilst is college, he turned pro.
Maybe DWjr will follow in his footsteps? That is he'll go pro and tear up the tour, not let his personal life get out of control!

What about the 1016 player?  another kid?  I don't think I bashed on anyone I just want to know why 1000+ rated players are allowed to play at an AM level.  I understand he is a kid but so are these other guys trying to play against other am.  Not child Pros.

Why shouldn't they be allowed?  If players that good want to play for the fun of it, more power to them. Yes, they could be making money, and Wiggins WILL make some money at this. Cody Kirkland has a tremendous frisbee pedigree (John "Friz Wiz" Kirkland PDGA#100 is his dad, if memory serves), but doesn't play that many disc golf events per year. John Kirkland once threw a 40 mold Midnight Flyer over 440' in the 1970s.  That's quite a feat. Heck, he threw a golf disc 551' just 8 years ago....at age 55!

Anyway, I digress.  You cannot ever force someone to be a pro who not done something to jeopardize his amateur status.  Simply being a good player does not jeopardize your amateur status.
Missouri....our state animal is sterile, our state rock is lead, and we elected a dead guy to the U.S. Senate.  Of course, he was the best candidate.

How will he ever resist all of the Disc Golf Groupies hoping for a taste of his millions!?!

I agree as well, but it DOES make you a super-bagger...
