How HOT is too HOT for disc golf?
« on: July 14, 2010, 02:11:09 PM »
So how hot does it have to be before its too hot to play or so hot that your disc go floppy? I took a couple of my disc out of the trunk of my car where they had been all day yesterday to just toss some putts! My star Dart went to an R-pro Dart it was so hot in my trunk!

If you're wearing asbestos soles and your feet still hurt then its too hot for disc golf.

Its not the heat that will get you...its the humidity.

Heat AND humidity DO suck.  Make sure you have plenty to drink.  You can get wicked sick in the heat and not even know it.  Also make sure you have a wide brimmed hat and stay in the shade as much as possible.  Try and wear light colored clothing that doesn't get soaked with sweat. Always apply sunblock.  Take care of yourself in the heat.  I prefer cold to heat any day, being 3/4 Russian and 1/4 English, my body is right at home in frigid temps.  Heat isn't for me.  Discs definitely do soften up in the heat.  Might be better for approach and putts however...

Played Blue Valley yesterday from 11:00 to 3:45 in 110 heat index.  Drank plenty of water and rested on every hole.  By 17 and 18 we were feeling the heat and were ready to leave.

It really was not that bad with all the water, shady break spots and playing slow. Think about all of our troops in the desert in long sleeves/pants and 50 pounds of gear.
