Hello Kansas City.

Just wanted to give you the heads up on the OZ tour for 06.

We are invading eastern Kansas more then any other year in the past.

We have events scheduled for:

Parsons
WyCo
Teds
Pamona
Emporia (3 times)
Topeka
Manhattan

I hope that this year we can get many more people to join the KDGA.

For more info go to www.kansasdiscgolf.com

I will be checking back here, and can answer questions if you have any.

I had already alerted Smitty to this. After talking to Wood-Z we are hoping to get in one last Redbud Open there. Wood-Z promised to make an up or down decision about whether the course will still be there at least 30 days prior to the date we have it scheduled for.

Well that sucks!

Ted's Dread is one of the very top courses in this region of the country.  One of the best worldwide even.

Ted has a family member next door to the east who may let him bleed the course over that way. He is selling the land to the west, #s 1 through 10 & #18. The rest of the course land he will still have. He may move those holes to the east and keep #11 through #17 the way they are. Nothing definite yet at all but the course as we know it will be gone.

It looks like the Redbud Open will be going out with a bang this year. Wood-Z says the land sale probably won't be complete by 4/15 and wants to do the event up big.

Camping Friday and Saturday night with a pre-tourney party and some glow Friday evening and a bash Saturday night.

Yes... it is.   But the actual tourney rounds will be in Saturday for those that aren't available on Sunday.

Sounds like it is going to be a pretty big event. I am pumped that the KDGA is going to be part of it. I know that all the KDGAers that made it last year had a blast and will probably be back again this year.

What's the deal with the course?  Is someone wanting to purchase the land to build a property?  The land is pretty prime for it.  I imagine that there is no realistic amount of money that could be raised to save the course.  Too bad more people didn't help out by coming out to play and donating.

I gave Ted's Dread some course design props on the PDGA
forum.

What was Ted's and Wood'z phone numbers again?

Part of the money we raise in KDGA membership fees is put aside for course improvement funds. If you know of a course that needs trash cans, tee signs, tee pads, benches, bulletin boards, ect., you can submit a request to the KDGA. The only thing we ask is for matching funds either through the club or parks department. We will donate up to $500 for one course/club. The more members we have, the more $ is generated for this cause. We also request that in return we have the KDGA letterhead visible on the items donated by our organization.

We also decided to pay all sanctioning fees for PDGA events in Kansas. This way we are supporting the growth of our sport and will become more visible to Kansas disc golfers.

The cost for a year membership is $25 and will include an annual Oz tour T-shirt, mini, and liscense plate. Over the last several years we have made incrdeible progress and hope to solidify the KDGA as a force to be reckoned with.

Thanks for the support,

Brett E. Straight
