This here is big 12 country. I vaguely recall something about Nebraska being part of that, but the specifics don't come to mind...

Urgh......this just reminds me that now I haev to pay attention to the Nowledge school.....Geesh, I used to like the Big 10, back when it had 10 schools, knew how to count, and Northwestern didnt count in athletics but pounded in academics......

Missouri....our state animal is sterile, our state rock is lead, and we elected a dead guy to the U.S. Senate.  Of course, he was the best candidate.

Let me know when you guys are interested in a football conference that actually wins championships, instead of the JV stuff that goes around in the midwest.

Not sure how TX, OK, and NE historically and currently qualify as JV teams.

Historically?  Yes.

Currently? No.

BCS Championship Records:
Big 10: 1-2
Big 12: 2-5
SEC: 6-0

Well, I don't know:

Top conferences overall in mythical national championships since 1936 (in AP poll 1936-1997, BCS winner 1998-2010):
(current schools only....obviously Penn State didn't win any of their titles as a member of the Big 10, but they are counted here anyway)

◦SEC -- (17)
◦Big 12 – (16)
◦Big Ten -- (13)
◦ACC -- (9)
◦Pac-10 -- (4)
◦Big East -- (3)

and the SEC just took the lead this year.....I say that's pretty competitive. Big 12's hardly JV. I don't see the SEC getting it done this year. Florida and Alabama should be a bit down (Ingram's had his knee scoped this week), and frankly the other 10 teams don't figure into it.

And crowing about the SEC in your situation is like someone from Northwestern crowing about the Big 10. And before you come back, at least Texas A&M has won a Big XII title (to Sirr (Parker) with love). Has Arkansas even made an SEC title game?

Edit: Actually, I was shocked at the answer...the Hogs have made it 3 times....and lost all 3 times (1992, 2002, and 2006).

Oh, and one other thing. At least Northwestern grads have something to boast about.  They've actually won a conference title in the last 20 years in football. Outright in 1995, and tied for the title in 1996 and 2000. My apologies to Wildcat grads.
