2010 Kidney Walk

My wife Vivian has advanced Stage 4 Kidney Disease, mostly brought about by the steroids she needed to fight Lupus as a pre-teen. Viv is only 42 years old. If you know anything about it, this is serious stuff. If you don't you should click on http://www.kidney.org/. If you know anyone using sports-enhancing steroids urge them to STOP!

Please sponsor me or join Viv's Volunteers for the 2010 Kidney Walk on October 9th on the UMKC Campus at 10:00 AM. Our 15-yr old son Ulysses has a Cross Country meet the same day (time TBD) a so we may not make it to the walk ourselves. http://donate.kidney.org/goto/vivsvolunteers

I would like to plan a fundraiser tourney sometime in the future, to coincide with the Kidney Walk. Maybe even the Club Championship? Comments are welcome.

Our good neighbor Leslie has set up a private fundraiser for Viv through GiveForward.org, which will provide direct support for Viv, aside from the National Kidney Foundation's overall support.

To any members of the EC that might be reading:
A few years ago my organization benefited by having a portion of the Ice Bowl proceeds set aside for Prostate Cancer.

Perhaps we could do that for the kidney organization in 2011? In Viv's name?

Just a thought.
