2011 Kan-U-Wyco ?????

Any idea of when I can expect to make my annual pilgrimage to Bonner Springs??

Is it still going to be a 1 day event?? I heard talks last year of possibly moving it to a 2 day to course (Shawnee Mission) event due to the popularity, this would be dope, any news of this being true??

After the boy scouts had some huge camp out at WYCO during the summer. I was talking to some guy out there about destroying the course using it for a parking lot for hundreds of cars after it had been raining. But he pretty much told me so what it's going to be a bunch of soccer fields anyway come spring 2011. Tell me this is not true??

the wizards or whatever they are now are donating money to the county to build soccer fields out there.  the county has not yet received preliminary plans from the wizards to determine which part of the park they would like to use.  it may or may not affect the disc golf course.  we are still waiting to hear before we start considering changes.

I doubt they'll eat up any land where 1 through 9 and 17-18 is. The course could morph into something a bit different and shorter and the holes in the 10 to 16 area could end up in that area as well. I have thought about it a little. One or two holes could go in over in the area south and east of 3-4 with one using the alternate #4 pin from up on the hill by the shelter and maybe one south of #2 fairway along the road. A couple of holes could be squeezed into the area where 17 is and that area could change from one to three holes. And maybe one short wooded technical hole could go in through the woods from short 17 pin to 18 tee. There's a lot of poison ivy to deal with in there though. That's 5-6 of the 7 holes we'll lose on the other side of the road. Maybe we could run one or two around by the skate park and tennis courts too. Actually, I doubt they'll use the area where #6 and #10 and #11 pins are too. Perhaps we can keep a couple of holes there. We'll have to wait and see what they do. I do expect the entire area where 10-16 is to taken away from the course though.

Who knows... perhaps we can talk them into letting us scope out a great spot at Wyandotte County Lake Park and move the course there. That's a 3000+ acre park with a lot of unused areas.

That would be a great location for a course, a beautiful park created in the 30's, lots of great elevation changes and a wide variety of terrain.  We rode our bikes all over that park as teens.  The Rangers used to be a bit overly aggressive but rarely left their vehicles.
