Naming My Home Brewery
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:48:05 PM »
Hey guys!  I started homebrewing.  Along with all the fun of making beer, drinking beer, etc, comes the fun of labeling them.   Of course, I need a name to put on the label.   These are the choices people have offered to me so far.   Your input is greatly appreciated!  Choose the one that appeals to you.

We need more information...this sounds fun...where do you live, what are special happenings in your community, street names, local people who are well known now and in the past, think of your towns history, something that means something to you personally, maybe just a town or county name?
If the moon was just a disc, where would it's basket be?  Saturn?

I'm here in KC, MO.   But I'm an import from Pennsylvania.   I'm trying to avoid anything that boxes me into a particular vein of beer titles.   For example, if I named it after something related to my career, I'd be compelled to name every beer after something music related; no doubt there are plenty of puns to be made here.  But I'd rather have open options for my beer names.

The other aspect that seems important is that the beer sounds natural with omitting "brewing company" or "brewery" from the title.  We ask the bartender, "Do you have Boulevard on tap?"  and not "Do you have Boulevard Brewing Company on tap?"

I'm open for suggestions for those who do not like the names above!  I'm curious to see what you can come up with!

I don't know a name for the brewery, but I hope to see a disc golf reference or two with the individual beer names. Could there be a "Polehole Pilsner" in the works? ;D

I was going to bring a few to IceBowl (in leiu of chili), but I picked up a work shift.   It is sad when work gets in the way of having life.

Ha!  Maybe I'll have a really high ABV beer that blind sides you and reference the new PDGA "no-look" clause for facemasks.

I like your last name.  It sounds old and Irish.

Also, I'll need a beer at Ice Bowl for that consultation :).

I don't think you can beat Oldham. "Hey bartender give me an Oldham IPA." Sounds good to me.

You probably have played a round with me.  I've been here since '04!

Awesome!!!  Steeler Nation has no bounds.

Welcome to the Mid-West.  We'll have to play a few rounds.
