Wyco is closing?

My Meetup group informed me Wyco is closing this year?! Anyone know what's going on? I really like the course and hate to see it go.

It's true.  The KAN U WYCO is the last tournament there March 26th.   We will continue to work with the P&R to have a replacement course in somewhere in Wyandotte.

Dick, When will it close down?  I have yet to make it over to WYCO to check it out, but I want to get there before it's gone.

We don't know exactly when it's closing. But we do know they aren't reserving any shelters this season because of the impending construction. They haven't been very forthcoming with information about their plans regarding our use of the park. We are playing it by ear. Kan-U-WyCo on the 26th then Friday league until it is no longer possible.

As part of a deal to get Cerner to build the new soccer stadium, Wyco is putting in new artificial turf soccer fields!

The amount of work to level that terrain into soccer and softball fields is QUITE ambitious.  I sincerely hope we get as good or better of a dgc outta this progressive endeavor. 

Personally, Friday night is my ideal league night for my schedule...and living in Lawrence made WyCo League a no brainer.

At this point I'm not holding my breath about losing WyCo DGC. As slow as they appear to be moving on the project we will likely have the course for at least the rest of this year and into the next. That's just my personal opinion on the deal though. Please, don't go out of your way to prove me wrong...  ;D

The information about the UGW taking reservations for the shelters that started in March till July 5th was the info I left out yesterday during my "announcement".
Public Works Dept. sent out people to take soil samples. The result was the soil is not good for whatever their plans are for certain regions those samples were taken in. Which parts of the park that are being used for the soccer is still sketchy.
With that regard we definately still have until July 5th to enjoy disc golf in this beautiful park.
So please everyone keep praying we can save our space we currently occupy, keep the faith and keep playing disc golf in WYCO!!!!!

I just drove through WyCo on my way to our OP campus and saw a large earthmover near #13 fairway. There were also several large trucks hauling other equipment all lined up along 126th Street. This isn't looking good.  >:(
