Travel between Blue Springs and Pleasant Hill will be a little tricky with the Route 7 Bridge near Lake Lotawana being closed for rehabilitation.

If you are coming North from 50and7 you will want to take either 50 or Langsford Rd. to Milton Thompson Rd. This will add about 10minutes to your travel time (especially if it is busy at the 50/Milton Thompson intersection).

Tonight going to league there was quite a back up coming South on Milton Thompson.

Plan accordingly!!!!!

On your drive to PHill from Blue Springs...if you don't mind 1 -2 miles of gravel, at 50/Milton Thompson go West and take the first left onto Smart Rd (only about a 1/4 mile on 50) and stay on Smart Rd until you get to the Lake...should shorten your drive by 5 - 10 minutes.

I'm pretty sure I signed up for Am, not Rec.

Yep, checked my e-mail receipt, I'm signed up for Advanced.

Dick is correct.  Recs and Ams will not play the ropes.  We will more than likely open an Int division like i posted earlier.

I am doing my best to make this event fun for all.  P Hill with ropes will be interesting for the better players and P hill without ropes is fun for beginners.  Mook, do not worry about playing in an event if this is your first one.  That is the goal of this event to get new folks out.  If this is your first event you will not be disappointed in the overall fun factor.

There is plenty of room for Ams so you will still get a sweet shirt.  When i said that 42 were paid up that includes the Open players BUT they do NOT recieve a shirt.  They do not want extra money taken out of their pot they are playing for.

John

John,

Can we play REC and INT no ropes, AM and PROs ropes?  All those currently in AM who want to drop to INT Sat morning could if they choose.

Just trying to separate the divisions a little more. Also, I wanted to play the ropes but wanted the sweet swag!!

If this is too much @%$!!!, too late in the game, I understand.

Thanks,

TomV

52 folks are paid up.

We will take walk ups tomorrow.  thanks for those that prereg.  it makes the TD's life easier knowing how much stuff is needed so we do not over spend.

Tommy V and Lance did an excellent job roping up P hill.  not the long continous lines like the wide open.   we did several bunkers to give the course some  tough shots.  every hole with a bunker has a spray painted drop zone that is in line with the tee pad.  super easy to find and super easy to follow.  You go into the bunker on your drive then you go to the drop zone.  the DZs are not too far away so speed of play will not be an issue.  Two cool island holes.  and hole 18 has the swope rope with a river in front of the the pin.  After roping it up we decided that Timko and Lee must have been out of their mind doing all that work so we started going with bunkers.

THe parks department has put in some time adding some nice touches throughout the park.  Plus it is mowed to the T like always.  it is going to be a great day of golf.  It is not too late to come join the fun!

The problem with "bunker obs" or "river lines" and "creeks" is that they are not continuous.   Which means that if you do not know the "course" it makes it frustrating to play.   If it were a permanent setup then one would get use to lines of the course.   Anyway I'll be there and complain(explain) later :).

But thank you for all the work all of you have done to get these courses ready for play.

there are flags and rope to mark the bunkers and they are all in site.  you got a 2-3 hour window between rounds so get out and see the course.

We had several goals for this event
  • get new players out(five tournament newbies)
  • offer appropriate tee distances for all divisions (yes i think so, please let us know)
  • fun, cheap event with a players pack that was different than most events
  • make money for the club(yes)
  • fill the event- we had 65 players
  • good mix of players in all divisions (yes)
  • two courses that complimen each other and offer various challenges for all skills(reply and let us know)
  • for me to be nice and not get too stressed (couple lapses but with our cast of characters it is hard not to)

Thanks to TEAM EASTERN FRONT:
-Lance Dwyer been there from the start, thanks for helping with registration, scorecards, course maintenance, OB roping
-Tom Verstrate for food prep, course roping, contacting Tallgrass Brewery
-Jay Cram for score cards and board, registration
-Jim Sherwood for registration and scorecards
-Tom Henderson for making the trophies and cooking and bringing out his gas stove
-Dan Coffman for moving baskets
-Nathan Whittman from Tallgrass Brewery for supporting our event with 12 hour old delicious beer straight off the line.  Nathan also played both rounds and the KCFDC hopes to continue our relationship with Tallgrass
-Dick Parker for pre and post tournament advice and direction
-KCFDC for sponsoring the event
-Matt Hayes continues to be the best t-shirt vendor in KC.  He puts our the sickest designs and is in touch with what is hip.  Foretwenty offers the best prices and best service.  I would like for someone to tell me what other company  prints additional t-shirts the day of the tourney for the walk ups?  IF you need shirts go to Matt Hayes.  You will not be disappointed.
-Blue Springs Parks and Rec and Pleasant Hill Parks and Rec for the continued support of our club and for all their hardwork maintaining the courses

Please let us know how to make this event better next year.  We want your feedback.  Scores will be up later this week.  Thanks for those that came out and supported our event.  If you are not a club member yet you should join becuase this is what our club is all about.

Played in the Eastern Front both years now. I think John Theiss (and the crew of volunteers) did an excellent job again this year with the event. The feel of the event was great! Great competition, yet still fun and laid back. Nathan from Tallgrass supplied the beer (much needed), and Fore 20 made the bad-ass event shirts. Again, a truly "class" event. GREAT JOB JOHN, AND VOLUNTEERS!!!!

anyway, great shooting for tank and dick, really great.  i'd say something nice about the villarreal bros but they don't read it and it's been said.

pete's freaking awesome and it's always nice to see jake out.  i wish i could have played.  keep it up John.
